Hello lstimpson,
You may have the CTCSS privacy code function enabled on one radio and not on the other. This function keeps your radio's received muted unless it receives a signal from another radio using the same privacy code. If you have Privacy Codes set for radio A but not for radio B you will still be able to transmit from A to B but when you transmit on radio B your signal will not be heard on radio A.
Make sure that both radios are set to the same privacy code or that the function is turned off on both radios.
Best Regards,
Ken

Sounds like the radio was subjected to electrostatic discharge. If you have your manual, and it describes a way to do a "master reset" on the radio, follow the instructions. This usually involves pushing down on one key while turning the radio on. Otherwise you have to find a licensed dealer for factory service, as there is no way to repair the radio yourself. The use of surface mount technology still confuses many Techs unless they have been to a company's two or three week seminars.

Hi!
Almost always, the problem here is that the micro switch for the Push-to-Talk (PTT) button has failed. Your radio should have a warranty, but even if the warranty has run out, it isn't horribly spendy to fix. I'd get in touch with Cobra Electronics, I have heard they're extremely helpful. Try this link and good luck!

SOURCE: need online manual for COBRA microtalk 2way radio
Most of the Cobra product models are here: https://www.cobra.com/pages/manuals.cfm . Scroll down to the MicroTalk Two-way radios/ . The direct link to the manual for the CXT90 is https://www.cobra.com/downloads/manuals/CXT90_MANL.pdf .
I hope this helps.

Usually answered in minutes!
thanks for all your help. What I want to do is have one of the units tobe able to transmit continuously. Now they have a timer built in which will allow only about 2 minutes of transmittingntime and the transmit button must be released and depressed again. I have a use for the unit whereby I mechanically hold the transmit but and leave the unit on transmit. After about 2 minutes it returns to receive to save batteries I guess. can the internal timer be bypassed I guess is the root of my question. Thanks again. robert
