GE side by side refrigerator not cooling at all even after replacing the main board

My GE side by side refrigerator model GSH25JSRFSS has stopped cooling completely in both the refrigerator and the freezer. I replaced the main board this morning and there is still no temperature change at all. I made sure the condenser coils are cleaned, the evaporator fan is running, as well as the condenser fan is running also. Prior to it completely stopping cooling, a few months ago the refrigerator would seem to freeze stuff that was towards the back intermittently, as well as the freezer starting to thaw food intermittently as well as the ice causing large ice jams in the ice container. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what else the problem could be or is there anything I can test on my own with an EVOM to try to pinpoint the exact problem?

In many cases changing the board alone will not solve the problem if the start relay, overload and the run capacitor have not been replaced, WR09X10107 Relay and Overload Kit and WR62X79 Run Capacitor You can locate a service manual HERE and test points and wiring diagram HERE I am here to answer any questions you may have, Thanks Sea Breeze

You also possibly have a defective thermistor and that may be the cause of the food freezing in the fresh food section, With the manual you can place the refrigerator into diagnostics once we get the compressor going, Thanks JT

SOURCE: evaporator coil freezing, replaced main control

It is possible you have a defective fan motor in the condenser area or evaporator area. Sometimes when they become defective they will run for a while and just warm up and stop while the compressor continues to run. I learned that one on four costly returns to the home. The cost was to me not the customer. Thanks, Sea Breeze

SOURCE: Stops cooling ice melts and leaks water on the floor

That model refrigerator uses the mother control board for deciding when defrost is to take place. It has no defrost timer or Adaptive Defrost Control like other refrigerators. This sounds like *********** board part number WR55X10942 is malfunctioning. The board decides most functions of your refrigerator. Until the board is replace I do not believe the problem will resolve itself. Thanks, Sea Breeze

I have a GE fridge, it is a GSH25JSRFSS model, GH204618 serial number. It stopped working except for the light inside. I found that the main or mother board was smoked up and had a burnt place on the....

Sometimes you can call GE and get help but most times not if the year warranty has expired. I personally have never found any problems other than the board itself just having a bad relay or a circuit blown off the back. Thunderstorms are hard on them too. Below is a link for the model unit you asked about.

Fridge not cooling, intermittenly working... if we unplug it.

3 possible reasons this is happening. The control board part number
WR55X10172 Is defective. or the defrost heater or defrost thermostat. This also can be caused by the main control board part number WR55X10656 The first photo shows burn marks on the back side of the control board. We need to unplug and examine the main control board on both sides. You can visit my website and enter the model number into the model and search feature. That takes you the a list of photos of your refrigerator. You also can email me or call. My email is [email protected] and my sites are listed below, Thank You Sea Breeze

Our GE fridge defrosted and doesn't get cold. Not a side by side

I had the same problem a year ago. It needed a new compressor, I think. I called GE, they came right away and fixed it in a few mintes.

GSH25JSRFSS: Replaced main control board but still does not work

Remove the indide back cover in the freezer. If the cooling fins are iced up, give it a full defrost, Look for any holes to the outside near the pipes. Plug them. Chances are a mouse climbed up and chewed the styrofoam and you're sucking warm room air in and the moisture is freezing (icing) up the coils. Ice in the airflow channel can cause clicking against the fan.
