LG 50" plasma has sound but no picture

Hi, I have been working on this plasma for a bit. It gets sound but no picture. I have checked voltages and everything seems ok but one pin that says (M5v_on) but reads 3.2 volts. Could this be the problem? No caps look bad and boards looks good. I also tried taking off the top buffer board and got scramble image on bottom half, but then put top back in and took off bottom and got nothing (total black screen) So this leads me to believe the top buffer board is bad, but then if the voltage is 3.2v instead of 5v maybe the top buffer is not getting enough power? Any thoughts before I go spend money? Thanks for the help. I have read that the sus boards, cold joints, and bad caps are very common with this model. Tv turns on fine and stays on.

SOURCE: Picture gone on an LG 42pc1dv-ec plasma. Sound OK,

Your Vs voltage is high, check if the heatsinks on the Z-sustain board are getting hot after a short time, if so replace the Z-sustain board. If not, dis-connect the Vs & Va plug connection to the Y-sustain & check if the voltages are normal (185V & 80V). If they are then your fault will be in the Y-sustain board. There is a possibility the control board (sits below the power supply) could also be a problem as it is not able to initiate the control to the sustain boards.

SOURCE: Issue with LG Plasma tv model # DU-42PX12X

Another "same probelm"

My set has encountered this magical 50/50 split screen and it seems to be quite a problem since I am not the only one researching this issue. LG was of no use because of course it is just out of warranty. Any solutions on fixing this or am I out of money in buying a new plasma?

SOURCE: to make a long story short originally bought the

Sounds like the y sus was blown out but what cause it. Were you careful when you were checking voltages? As long as you didn't short 2 components together, your y sus should be fine. Unless the y buffer up and/or down blew them out. Even the panel could blow it.

Basically you need a scope to adjust the ramps and everything. You can adjust VA and VS with a meter. If you don't have access to a scope, then just start changing the ramps etc by eye. It might take a little bit to get but eventually you'll get it.

I have a LG 50PX1D 50 in. Plasma Television. it turns on and stays my sounds or working fine. but no picture.. i have checked the power board and the capacitors are ok, and the fans are working @ normal...

You need to replace both the Y and X-sustain boards to light the tv. If the voltage is fine from the power supply then those are the only other boards related to lighting the plasma gas.

Thank you!

Look very closely at the screen - is it charged? dimly lit? or not lit at all? I would check voltages on power supply if that is good check the AV mainboard - that could be the case in this LG -

to C_LATKA:
Hi, I recently bought a 47" LCD LG the latest model and I read that you had purchased it previously and I wanted to know how you found the quality of picture on the LCD? At the moment ours is a bit blurry. I hope it was worth buying. Do you think we just need to tune the picture quality?

42 inch LG Plasma TV - Lost picture

This is almost certainly the device that sends electricity to the the plasma in the panel after failing. Bring to your local repair shop and expect to pay 300-400 parts and 100-200 labour.

LG 50" plasma tv

call 877-543-8325 this is an LG Executive call center and they will fix this for free. I have a 50" plasma I bought january 2006 which is out of warranty by 5 months. They faxed me and the LG repair shop a 30 day warranty for my tv to cover the repair. Just tell them you heard a pop and in my case the picture is distorted. All they need is the model number and serial number and they should take care of it. No arguing needed.
