Think you have the Num Lock on. Tap it once, and all should be good.

Keyboard Produces Numbers Instead of Letters when Num Lock key is on. For example here is what I get when pressing the keys from Q all the way over to the \ key on that row of keys when I have the caps off...

I have the same problem. Click the Windows start button. At the bottom is a Windows Serach box. Type 'keyboard'. A virtual keyboard appears. Click the NumLock key on the Virtual Keyboard. This should override the issue you are having and your keyboard and keys should now work. Otherwise reboot!

I need open the Lap for clean the keyboard

You can lift the affected keys off the keyboard to get at the key contacts. Clean with solvent spray cleaner under the rubber contacts.
The keys can be replaced by positioning over the plactic hinges and pressed home until it clicks into place.
If this doesn't work you will need to replace the keyboard.
Keyboard replacements are available on the Internet, I replaced one from Yall Store for approx. $60

Hp pavilion dv1000 laptop pc keyboard not working properly.

Does this computer KB work alright in SAFE mode? If it does then drivers and/or viruses are the problem. If it doesn't work in SAFE mode then it could be drivers and or keyboard. Now try booting into BIOS. At the date prompt you usually can type any keyboard letter. If the keyboard works here, then you definately have driver/virus issues. If not replace the keyboard.

Thanks for your support

Remove the keyboard screws first, the screws that secure the keyboard have keyboard symbols next to the screws.
Some Compaq/HP have slide catches along the top edge of the keyboard between the number keys and the Function keys. Usually the slide catches are located between the ESC & F1 key, F4 & F5 key, F8 & F9 keys, F12 & delete keys. Slide these catches towards the front edge of the keyboard (ie. towards the space bar) you should be able to lift the keyboard clear. Don't forget to unclip the ribbon cables on the keyboard.

Hp dv8000 keybpoard problem

Hello! am Fabian,
problem.
every time i press a letter another letter shows up the space bar ...

solution.
first, be show to check if any other key is down, if not, dust your keyboard/pad to make sure the keys are free. if you problem remains, its likely your keyboard may be moist. you have to dry it by opening/ exposing it internal circuitry's to a dry air for some hours then close it up and test. if this did not work, it means you will need to replace your keyboard/pad.

when drying do not expose to direct sun light. if you have to replace the keyboard/pad buy an exart from your system manufacturer if you can.

i hope this information will be helpful.
Thanks.
