Headlight problem: only works wen clutch is pulled in. Starting problem: after left for a day it starts fine with no problems, I let it warm up for a bit and the try to throttle it lightly it'll stay running fine but the minute I give it full throttle all the way it cuts out and the won't start.

2004 YAMAHA YFZ 450 Quad POPS OVERHEATS BREAKS UP AT HIGH RPM.

Question edited for full 'year make model (what it is).
Question moved from motorcycles to make model category.
Please don't type in all CAPS, it is considered SHOUTING and is harder to read.

'clips' and 'turns' it took me a while to realise you were talking about the carburetor and you were playing with the mixture screw and needle position! 4 turns out is a lot different to the factory setting which is 1 1/2 turns out.

If it is overheating it is running too lean. As you changed the stator, also consider the ignition timing. Popping can also be caused by the ignition failing under load, coil, lead and spark plug.

What would cause my yfz 450 not too have any electric power at all, no lights come on , tried to jump the selanoid n all it does is crank over but doesnt it start??? Any idea why or what the problem is???

There is a good possibility that your main fuse is blown. The main fuse is located on the solenoid. There also should be a spare fuse that is stored on the solenoid, however, if it's blown, something has shorted to cause this, and needs to be found. An important note, if the battery has been hooked up with the polarity reversed, that will blow the main fuse.

There's also a possibility of a bad connection at that fuse, or in the plug that connects the solenoid to the harness. If this is the case, it would just need a little cleaning, or replacement of the whole solenoid.

I'm having trouble getting my 2011 Yamaha 450 Grizzly into neutral so I can start it. It goes into all the other ranges just fine, just the neutral is the problem.

that is a shift cam problem most likely. Pull the clutch cover and inspect the clutch shift quadrant and the clutch discs while you are at it.

I have a 185 kawasaki bayou atv. the neutral light won't come on,you got to hold the shifter down alittle .how can i fix this? will not start untill it is on.it it is a 1986

I had a similar problem. pull start worked no problem, and starter only sometimes. turns out the starting system as a whole (starter, old wires, solenoid etc) were drawing so much power that it wasn't allowing much for power for the coil and spark. it was too weak
