I go to plug my camera into the computer to upload photos and the camera will say connecting computer after that it goes blank and nothing comes up on the computer or on the camera. What do I need to do.
Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Try using Windows Explorer or a similar folder and file locating program to find the camera. In Explorer, choose My Computer and look down the list that opens. If your camera is "seen" by the computer, it will appear in the list and you should be able to retrieve the pictures from there, just like finding and opening other folders and files. If not, the problem is most likely on the camera or cable, not the software or computer.

a.keep the camera switched on (no stand by ; check the batteries) and plugged to your PC
b.put the drivers cd in the cdrom drive and launch the installation
c.nevermind getting an error message, reboot your PC the usual way
d.when your desktop appears check if you see a balloon tip describing the installation of the camera
e.if not, unplug the camera, wait some seconds and plug it again
f.check if you see a balloon tip describing the installation of the camera
g.if not, repeat the procedure until at reboot the ballon tip shows a successful installation and the camera appears in your windows harware list
it "finally" worked for me under XP, though I still have an aditionnal problem with the "video capture device" not installing :-( (setup.exe from the cd failing...)

You may have switched USB mode to Pictbridge by mistake.
Press Menu/OK, select Setup, choose USB mode (on 3rd page) switch from Pictbridge to DSC, press OK.
