Try testing the system (if a Dell or HP, there will be diagnostics available in the BIOS or during boot up). If everything passes the diagnostics, then you can either provide more details on when its slow, how its slow, when it started being slow, what may have happened prior to it being slow (dropped, updates, new software, antivirus, etc.), OR back up all your software and files and use the PC Restore to reinstall/restore to factory condition.

unfortunatly your cleaner created an error in the registry my suggestion is to boot with a cd your labtop should have came with.

I understand that you need windows 98 drivers for your Notebook.

I have searched the HP website and found the drivers for the following operating systems.

Microsoft Windows 2000
Microsoft Windows XP Home edition
Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Microsoft Windows Vista Home
Microsoft Windows Vista Enterprise
Microsoft Windows Vista Business

But not for Microsoft Windows 98...

Windows 98 is considered to be obsolete now. As far as I know no one will provide drivers for this model Notebook for Windows 98. Please install atleast Windows 2000 in the Notebook for the drivers to work correctly.

I would rather believe that you need an update from HP. But if you haven't updated your windows 98, it wouldn't hurt to go out to microsoft update site and let it run a scan on your system, it will tell you what you need. For HP, go out to hp.com then click on to support, then find updates and downloads. This should do it for you.

you have to have an operating system, this can be purchased from any computer shop, you may get an enterprise edition so that all 3 computers will just use a single CD.

Windows XP or Vista if it can get along with hardware requirements.
