I have gota sony DCR-DVD605 handycam. I also have a sony-rw dvd drive. My dvd drive shows up other movie dvds, audio dvds. However when I insert the mini dvd of the handy cam(sony rw 1.4 gb 30min single side)it does not show up anything. It shows the used space as full however does not show up any files. Kindly help me out to solve this problem asap.

Thats exactly what my problem is...I have finalised the DVD on my handycam and now I want to burn it on a normal DVD. But when I insert the minidvd in my comp it does not show up any files that i can copy to my hard disk. However on the left hand side where we get info about used space it shows entire space of the dvd used...SO I am unable to copy the contents of mini dvd on to my comp

My daughter in Australia has the DCR-DVD605 and has copied the folder/file to her computer. She can play it with Cyberlink. She would like to separate the chapters so she can post to Snapfish and I can see them in Canada.

She has done exactly this with a Cell phone video and it worked great.

Would you please give us some steps to follow.

    Thanks.

we have encountered this problem at least 4 times. when we were currently recording or having a movie pictorial, a part of the handycam was accidentally touched and a message that says "disc accidentally opened" and "recording disable" after that all the previous pictorial/recording vanished. we had no way of retrieving the very important event recorded on cam.

The disc needs to be finalized before you play it on other equipment. But to do this will render the disk unusable- If you intend to record over it in time, So it is best to copy the info across to the PC- burn that to a disk and finalize it then most other DVD players[Not all] will run it.

OK got you meaning now - was not that clear 1st time.
Can you copy the disk in the camera to a folder on the computer?

Then burn a disk with the folder contents as I initially said.

I have a camrecorder sony handycam dcr-dvd201 when i insert the new dvd apparear an error message c:13:00 and in the middle of the lcd the symbol of the disc breaking and the eject.

From the user manual on page 6, this camcorder can only use DVD-RW or DVD-R DVDs (It can't use DVD+R, DVD+RW, etc).
Take the DVDs that you purchased back and buy the correct type.

DVD driver and handycam dvds

None at all - the DVD player has a chipset that is incompatible with that type of disk.
Check the player manual for the disk types it can handle
