Question about Hotpoint 24 in. DF55 Free-standing Dishwasher

1 Answer

Water Leak My dishwasher is an Ariston Advantage AF250: I have been told that internally its the same as a Hotpoint DF55. It intermittently leaks water onto the floor from the front at its base during use. At one time it ruined the motor which I had rewound and at the same time I made a new polystyrene float for the base pan overflow switch. All was well for months, but now its leaking again. I have blown through the tubes from the drain filter well to the pressure sensitive switch, but all to no avail. It will, no doubt, be something simple and that's why I don't want to scrap it. Meanwhile the enemy is constantly on my case.

Re: Water Leak

Hi there,
dishwasher leaking might be due to either of these causes, check these:

Main tub seal
Note… If the main motor of your dishwasher is mounted vertically, beneath the center bottom
of the dishwasher, the following instructions probably apply to you.
But if your motor is mounted horizontally, the pump isn't serviceable--you need to replace the
entire pump and motor assembly.

The main tub seal is beneath the drain impeller. It prevents the water in the dishwasher from
leaking out near the shaft of the motor. To get to the seal, which is inside the dishwasher,
remove the:

* Lower rack
*Spray arm
* Spray arm support
* Wash/drain impellers

Then try the seal out of its housing and replace it.

Door gasket or seal
Over time, door gaskets and seals harden and lose their ability to seal properly.
You can't repair the seals. You need to replace them if they've begun to leak.

Water-inlet valve
The water-inlet valve, itself, seldom leaks. But, the water-supply line from the house and the
rubber tube leading from the valve to the inside of the dishwasher may leak. Tighten
or repair/replace these as necessary.

The water-inlet valve could mechanically stick open. When that happens, the water continues
to flow into the dishwasher, which then floods your kitchen. Turn off the water supply to the
dishwasher, and replace the valve.

Behind the lower access panel on your dishwasher are several rubber or plastic hoses. If the
leak appears at a connection, try a new clamp. If that doesn't work, replace the hose.

First perform a vinegar cycle wash in the dishwasher. Pour a cup of vinegar into the bottom of the dishwasher. Keep the temperature at the highest setting possible and perform a wash cycle.Then start using a dishwasher most probably that would solve the problem. If this does not solve the problem then there must be some parts worn out or faulty creating the problem.

I have intermittent leakage at the bottom left of my slimline SDL510P dishwasher. Have cleaned internal filter and doesn't appear to be a kinked hose. Suggestions, please

It is so common that the drain leaks in many ways and is the most problematic fault in a Dish washing machine. In all occasions it is important that your observation is most important and so is vital to the identification /rectification and solution. If you have noticed that water has leaked then as the drain hose pump/valve and fittings are located on the underside of the machine it is important that you look for possible leaks here. In some cases the drain hose would be clogged at the drain end to outlet of the house and so there will be back flushing resulting in overflow to the outside. Also the drain pump/valve can be clogged or the drain hose clamps can be loose on the grip which can all cause the leak to occurs. Removing and Cleaning the drain pump/valve, tightening of the hose is also very important. Also water can leak if there is gaps on the front door gaskets and must be checked but this will happen only during the cycle and not on the drain cycle end.

Hotpoint dwg60 does not fill with water

If the water overflow circuit has been triggered then it can lock the inlet valve. Check if the float device at the base of dishwasher is moving up and down when pressed.

Alternatively, the inlet valve may be faulty.

Hotpoint dishwasher DF51, no water getting through

possible clog in screen on inlet side of water valve. This is a blue plastic assembly that the water line connects to. Remove the water line from machine look at screen inside water valve to see if it is clogged. If not, you need to check to see if there is power being delivered to water silenoid by dishwasher ( use an electric meter ) during the fill/rinse cycle the dishwasher will send a current to the silenoid toi activate it during those two cycles If silenoid does not open water will not fill dishwasher. Silenoid is bad a new one can be purchased at low cost and is easy to install. Purchase it at a appliance parts warehouse.

ALO1 flashing. Its as if the dishwasher is draining all the time. Won't reset even when turned off at the wall. Debbie

AL01 is activated when the dishwasher develops a leak and the internal water tray has filled with water. This activates the pump to drain water from the dishwasher. The tray needs emptying manually however and the source of the leak needs to be traced. Probably best to get an engineer in to do that.

Technika Diswasher

Hi ,I have a leaking problem with aTechnikaTDX20W and have discovered from service that it is the spray arm which has cracked along the seam edge . This then spays the door seals and they leak. unfortunately the part is out of stock which seems to be a problem with Technika. If anyone can help with a new spay arm I would appreciate it. I have tried te glue it however didnt work. The dishwasher is only three years old and I am considering buying an Australian made one to ensure parts. Worth a check of yours. Regards,Brian.

Fault with Hotpoint BCI45 Dishwasher

This a generic problem with hotpoint dishwashers..
Water is present in the flood catching tray at the bottom which usually indicates that there is a leak somewhere. More often than not this is just a pipe with a poor fitting and simply tightening the clip is enough to stop the leak. Our machine had a very slow leak from one pipe (not enough to trigger the alarm) which was fixed in this way. The leak is detected by a small float switch located in the flood catch tray.

Undo 4 screws on the metal plate under the dishwasher 3 at the front 1 at the back, this reveals The pump check the seals are in place on the waste pump.
