Handle on Microwave recently broke off on SCA1000DBB03. Husband fixed and filed down the "latch" hoping to make it easier to open and close oven without so much pressure on the handle. Now microwave interior light won't go off and microwave doesn't work. We put extra pressure on latch and the light went off and microwave panel lights up and buttons work, but the microwave does not turn on when "start" is pressed. The numbers change as if microwave is heating, but it doesn't actually turn on. If we replace the latch and/or the entire door, will this cause microwave to work again? We did not have problem prior to handle breaking off.
You need to replace the whole door latch with an original part.
If it is working but not heating, then test the high voltage
capacitor, the rectifier diode.or the magnetron. If all this are fine,
test the control board. If turntable is not running check also the door
switch.
Remember that microwaves are potentially dangerous devices if not repaired properly, the job must be done by a competent person.
A microwave energy leakage test must always be performed when the oven is serviced for any reason.

I have checked the outlet and unplugged the oven and plugged it back in. There is no display, the light and vent fan do not operate, and there appears to be no power at all. The model is a GE advantium 120 oven which has worked perfectly until this occurred.
