You can only delete songs from this player when it's connected to a computer. There are two modes of adding songs to this player. You need to remove the songs with the same method you added them.
Alternatively format the whole player - but make sure you do it the way Sansa recommends, not by formatting in windows.
Go to My Comp
choose Sansa E250
Click on Tools ,choose Folder Option, Click on the View Tab,
Put a dot on Show Hidden Files and Folder click on Apply then OK.
you will see the Music Folder, double click so you will see all your songs
to delete press the delete key on the keyboard, or right click on the song choose delete.
I do mine through Windows Media Player
1)Plug in Sansa
2)Open up Windows Media Player and wait for the Sansa e250 icon to show up under the library. First time, might say 'What device is this' or 'Autoplay'-for autoplay, you click 'sync media files to Sansa e250 using WIndows Media Player'
3)When library shows, click 'Sync' if it is not already there.
4)Just simply click and drag the songs you want from the computer library to the list pane on the side.
5)Once your done, click 'Sart sync'
2)Wait for the icon under Library in WIndows Media Player
3)Go to Songs under Sansa e250
4)Right click desired songs and choose Delete. You only want to delete from Sansa e250-nothing else

Chances are that you are using windows xp. open up your sansa folder to where it says pictuer, movies, ect. look at the picture to see what to do. In your player folder click tools --> folder options --> View. Under hidden files and folders click 'show hidden files and folders, click ok. The music folder would now show up where the videos and pictures are. Simply open the music folder and delete the ones you do not want. By default the songs are sorted by artist --> album --> song.
Someone else mentioned this problem....I thought it might be that some files have different artist names (or vice versa?). You really have to keep a clean library with proper summary fileds (artist, title, track number, etc.).
First of all, you should always be using MTP mode (USB mode in Sansa player settings). MTC mode is problematic.
Are you using WMA or mp3 files? The other person had the same problem using WMA files....maybe using mp3s would fix this.
