Question about Whirlpool 25.6 cu. ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator with In-Door-Ice Dispensing System

Open Question

4 year old SxS Whirlppol Refrigerator Model ED25QF

There was a knob type of attachment on the top panel of my fridge (to the right of the knobs are for temp) that attached to the underside of the panel. The attachment has something to do with the EZ Filtration water & ice feature -even though the filter is docked bottom of the unit. The knobs attaches on the under side of the panel below the EZ Filter Indication lights. I removed the attachment and lost it ( to make a long story short) SO What is the attachment for and does it need to be there?

It comes off just like you are doing- it snaps on, so it needs to pop off at those spots first. Please leave feedback.

SOURCE: water in bottom of fridge

Thanks to all who spent money or shared their experience to have somebody do this repair, and I really mean it.
I have a Whirlpool TopLoad Fridge (not a side by side).
Things you'll need
30 minutes
Small socket for cardboard panel on lower back and panel inside freezer
Bicycle Pump
4 Towels
Hair Dryer

1. Take everything out of freezer
2. Turn dials off in fridge for both compartments
3. Pull fridge out so you can get behind it and unplug it
4. Be vigilant of ice maker line if installed
5. Pull cardboard panel off on back
On the left side you should see the back of the skinny drip pan and a small line. That line goes from the freezer and is most likely clogged.
6. Blow dry the back of the freezer enough so the ice is thawed at the bottom of the back panel.
7. Remove the two screws on the back panel. You may just be able to pull it toward you enough to get behind it. You'll see the coils and fan, and underneath these you may see some ice sheets and there should be a hole. That is the drain line that is clogged. I heated up some water and poured it over the drain to thaw the line. You may want to remove the crisper drawers and put some towels down there to catch the overflow. Once the ice is thawed enough at the drain. Go to the back of the fridge and place the end of the bicycle pump at the bottom of the drain hose. Apply pressure to get a good seal but keep pumping. You may have to go back and forth between pumping and thawing, but you'll know it is clear when you hear air going into the freezer and then the wonderful moment when water drips into the drip pan as advertised!

Keep those fridges less full so that the door stays sealed and keep the seal clean and also keep your doors from having too much stuff so the weight of the door doesn't pull away.

Okay, put it back together, turn everything on and be careful of your cord and lines when pushing the fridge back. Thank the Lord ours has wheels and man,was it cruddy underneath. Vacuum those coils underneath the fridge too for proper air circulation.

Blessings to you!

SOURCE: ice machine isn't working

Two things come to mind.

First, the water valve at the bottom rear of the refrigerator may have failed. You didn't mention if there is a water dispenser and whether or not this is still working. This valve pumps water to the icemaker and water dispenser when the control unit of the icemaker calls for water. Also, there could be a blockage in the line which brings the water to the icemaker.

The other possibility is that the part of the icemaker controls which calls for water from the valve has failed. If this has happened, it would likely be more cost effective to replace the icemaker unit.

True T-49 refrigerator/freezer temperature calibration

Contact the manufacture, it is most likely going to be covered under warranty. If the knob is not removable, (check for a set screw on the side of the knob it will take a small allen wrench) Then the thermostat (temp controller) will need to be replaced, if it isn't a style that you can calibrate.

How do I remove knob from Magimix 2-Slice Vision Toaster with out damaging it?

Do not try to just pull it off, you will likely damage difficult to repair parts.

On the underside remove 6 pozidrive screws 3 each end (one under the crumb tray)
Standing on its base - open the doors and remove 4x countersunk torx T10 screws, near the top, that screw from the inside into the end covers.
Now remove the opposite end to the knob, (in order to learn how it is held). Pull the bottom away from the base to the left, around 5 mm, and slide the whole end cover upwards, it unclips at the top. The other end is not so easy of course because of the knob. Release the cover, as before. It is possible - with the knob at the top, pull the bottom of the cover out 5mm and push hard to slide it upwards as before. The cover will release from its top mount. Then slide the cover all the way up, as far as the knob slot will allow. This will allow you see and have access to the back of the knob and the plastic clip that holds it in place. Stand the toaster on its base, with the end cover lifted up it is easy to put your hand inside the cover from the top and putting your thumb and forefinger around the bar you can grip the plastic hook and ease it downwards whilst you use your other hand to pull the knob and its firmly attached bar away. It will be necessary to wiggle the knob up and down whilst pulling it outwards. The bar surface is not flat, it has ridges that hold it in place quite well, even without the clip, hence the need to work it up and down. That's all there is to it! Hopefully you haven't broken the clip off, but if you have, don't worry you will still be able to use the toaster with little impact. The attached photo shows a close up of the knob and bar just separated from the mechanism. This should give an idea of what you are up against.
What a fantastically well made machine this is, a real pleasure to work on.

Hello. I just received a new Glass Touch ASM (WB27T10875) for my GE stove. My previous one cracked and needed to be replaced. Problem: While installing/ connecting the ASM to the stove, once I connect the...

Funniest thing. I was having the very same problem on Monday. Every time I laid the glass touch panel down on the stove, it stopped working but worked when I held it up. After failing to install the panel so it would work for 30 minutes, I walked away from it and ate dinner. Coming back later, I decided my problem was the connections on the back side were coming into contact with the metal so I placed a tightening knob in the center of each of the outside holes making sure the underside of the knob went exactly into the middle of the hole. I then lowered the left side of the panel down to where the threads started and very carefully partially tightened the left knob so none of the panel back touched the stove. I then lowered the right side until the knob touched the knob and tightened that side finger tight. I keep testing the buttons to make sure they were still working. When the out side knobs were finger tight, I finger tightened the 2 inside knobs. Success. My oven is now working.

I have an older side by GE refrigerator model # TFX24R. The freezer is fine, but the fridge isn't getting too cold. Any suggestions??

You may have ice formed in the passage between the freezer and the refrigerator. You have to remove the plastic panel in refrigerator side. (pull temp control knob straight off, then tilt plastic panel forward from bottom. Should come off with a little wiggling). Next remove one screw just above where the temp knob attached. this will allow the left half of the assembly to pull toward you. It will want to stick to the right side of the assembly (were the light buld is) so just gently encourage it to come out. Once out you will have a very simple device in you hand made of foam and plastic. rinse under warm water and get all the ice out of it. Dry it and put back in. replace parts in reverse order.

See if that helps!

How do I repair A knob that is broken off at the stem of my ge profile flat top stove?

You cannot repair this switch, you will have to replace it.
You will need to remove the cook-top and remove the glass top to access the switches. There will be a series of screws around the underside of the lip of the glass top that attach it to the burner box. Remove all of the remaining knobs and lift the glass straight off the box.
I would get your model number and order the replacement switch before starting the process.
good luck!

Forming ice in the freezer vent going to bottom

It could also be your defrost heater. Look in side your fridge at the adjustment knob. It is in a box attached to the ceiling of your fridge. Look under this and you should see a plastic screw. Turn this screw until the motor cuts off. Leave it off for about 30 minutes. If motor turns back on then the defrost timer is working. The defrost heater is in the back panel of the freezer. The defrost heater looks like a long tube that runs under the freezer coils and half way up both sides. If after turning the screw on the defrost timer and the fridge doesn't turn back on then it is the defrost timer. The time is inside the box the adjustment knob is on.
