yes and no. That particular tv you have is done for, but if you just purchased it 6 months ago, you are still within you 1 year warranty with sharp. they will ask you to take it to a authorized service center and you need to follow through with the process. about a week or 2 will pass and the service center will deem the unit unrepairable and sharp will replace it if they cant solve the problem. give em call..good luck 2u

Perhaps you can try determining if the laptop's problem is either the LCD display panel, the video card or the CCFLamp. If you can then maybe repairs can be done locally in Palau and you can source parts online.
If the unit powers up and goes through the motion of booting:
1. to determine if LCD Panel Display - connect the laptop to an external monitor. You may need to press Fn + F? key to activate and view display on the external monitor;
2. to determine if CCFLamp (and/or inverter) - power up the laptop and shine a flashlight obliquely to the screen. If you can see some semblance of display/desktop, no matter how slight/dark, then the backlight (CCFLamp) and/or the inverter is the problem; and/or
3. If there is no result on #1, then it is possible that the video card is the problem. In some instance, it could be memory, motherboard or something internal to the unit.

As to your other concern, I made inquiries but it would seem that Sharp Phils. doesn't accept laptop repairs. Nonetheless, most incoming service request are forwarded to their Service Centers.

It's often bad electrolytic capacitors, the vertical IC, or both. That's apparently not a US model, so it will be hard to find the values but you could contact Sharp Philippines: SHARP (PHILS.)
