The iPod needs to be connected to a computer that has itunes. You can't add music from any other program except itunes. Make sure the usb you are using is properly connected.

Open the iTunes application on your computer. If you do not yet have the iTunes application, you can download it from Apple's website for free. From there you can easily download and install it. if you go to an local apple store they can either send it back to apple for you to get a new one but it depends on how long you warranty is

Try putting your ipod in disk mode and see if it will mount.

Press and Hold the Menu button and the Center button until the apple appears on the screen.
then switch to the Play/Pause button and the center button and hold until you see a check mark
on the screen.

Attech to the computer and see if it comes up on itunes.

If not try another cord or another usb port..prefferably a usb 2.0 port.

I should mount to itunes.
if it doesn't mount try a different usb port preferably a usb 2.0 port
If that fails, something is wrong with your ipod.

there should be some type of healing solution that you could buy at walmart. its cheap and easy to use! but i dont remember the name. try to get a case that is clear so you can see the mirror yet it covers it good. hard plastic is the best!
