Question about Compaq Presario 5070 (117815-004) PC Desktop

1 Answer

Cant perform a quick restore.

I have an older Compaq Presario 5070 desktop and I'm running Windows 98. I go to the quick restore page and pressed full restore and typical restore and my computer does nothing. I've run into this problem before and only solved the problem after weeks of trying over and over again! I even tried reinstalling Windows 98 a couple of times. The reason I'm even trying to perform this operation is to debug my system and start fresh. I'm trying to avoid costly repairs if I can. It was suggested that there may be files missing. HELP!!!

What size is yous hard drive and is the windows installing it'self properly and the other problem is have you got all the motherboard drivers if not then the system will become unstable and the hard drive will need to be format back to manufactures default as the files thet were on drive are burrired deep and the only way to get rid of problems is using a program called kill disk then using your win 98 start-up floppy and fdisk the hard drive then partition then format the hard drive then install windows on then all other files for motherboard and graphics and other devices. it should take you about 1 day to get back on line with pc up and running. hope this helps

My quick restore doesnt work for my compaq presario 2700t labtop how do i get it to work

Hi

Do you mean your system restore, sometimes the hard drive will not be able to restore your laptop to a earlier time because of file corruption.

You can try and google the problem to see if anyone else resolved this issue or you will have to save your data and re-install windows and the drivers again.

cheers

I have a Compaq SR1130NX computer. It had some major problems, so I was reformatting the computer, or so I thought and I put in the Quick Restore CD for my older computer I used to have which was Windows...

If you can gain access to another computer and then the web site to get to Compaq's web site I would.
A) have the model and serial # with you.
B) Go to their support page and or Tech support page.
C) They may have an instant Tech/talk message page where you can talk to a Compaq tech with instant messenger.
If not you could just send them an E-mail with your need to get the restore disks sent to you. You may have to pay a small shipping fee but they should be able to get them to you.
Some one told me that they were able to get a restore disk/software from the web site. You may need to have a large USB drive or a Flash memory card to load this recovery software on.
Worth the try!
Blessings,

PC keeps restarting itself. Trying to log on to my pc ,get to first vista page to choose my account and it restarts. Cant get as far as the start up button to do anything.

Reboot in safe mode (at very first manufacturers start-up screen, press and hold F8, choose "Boot in Safe Mode". When prompted, you can either a) System Restore to an earlier date, or B) load and then run anti-virus software. I would suggest updating your virus definitions first, then running a comprehensive virus scan BEFORE trying the System Restore (many re-boot issues are code-executed, and are usually because of a virus). If you need to do a restore, pick a date well before the problem occured, as is may be an older issue than just the re-boot problem!

Hope this helps!

The quick restore dosen`t work

What operating system you are using before installing windows xp. If it is windows 98, Your restore cd will restore windows 98. if you want to restore to factory settings pls boot from the restore cd and format the harddisk. Becareful, this will erase your entire data on the harddisk which cannot be recover. If you are using licenced (not pirated) windows xp boot from it and reinstall windows xp so that you can run the os smoothly. But in either case becarefull when you are formating, it will destroy entire data and you may endup in soup. feel free to revert back for further quiries
