Question about iLO (2 GB) MP3 Player

Music just displaying as 'files'...

So, I have a 1 GB iLo mp3 player that I got for Christmas. It was working just fine up until the last time I tried adding/removing music. Instead of showing up as mp3s like they should, my music all just showed up as 'files.' I can't delete anything and I can't add anything, either, because it's full. I tried syncing it with Windows Media Player, and that didn't work, either. It just said that I needed to hookk up a device, even though my mp3 player was already hooked up... Umm, maybe a screen shot would be more helpful [since I'm obviously not very good at describing things.]: I really have no idea what's wrong with it, and would really appreciate some help if anyone can give it. Thanks for reading~

Re: Music just displaying as 'files'...

This is the worst mp3 player ever invented - i have to tell you this up front. There is no driver, the company does not support the product anymore - I would return it now while you still can.

Either the device is bad, the pc port is bad, or the software is faulty. Try connecting to different usb port, then a usb port on a different pc with a compatible os. If still not recognized, then there is physical damage to player.

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

If it a normal USB cable, any usb cable with the correct end should work. It might be something else.

Also, NEVER ever put your phone number online, or your last name.

Won't read music

Check and make sure that the format you are trying to play is compatible with the player. For instance, iTunes files won't work with this player.

Also, you could be trying to load DRM-protected files from a service like Bearshare. Yuur screen will tell you the files are transferring, but they are really not transferring b/c they have DRM protection. There is not currently a free way that I know of to remove this DRM-encryption, although you can probably buy download rights from your music service.

Unfortunately, the ILo site is down, so their is no way to get a firmware upgrade in case this model is another victim of the Windows Media Player upgrade - WMP 11 messed up a lot of mp3 players regardless of manufacturer.
