Question about Eclipse SIR-ECL1 SIRIUS Radio Receiver
Is it supposed to update everytime you start your car? This takes several seconds. I understand that it shouldn't do this.

I don't think there is any solution for this updating thing. I just let it run through the "update" mode and it is over and done with in a matter of seconds and the radio continues on playing where it left off of the that station - thank god! Otherwise, I would be mad if it kept "freezing" up.

Having similar problems with same unit. Have replaced the ECL1 with another one, and it won't even let me select "Sirius" in the source options. Sees its there, just won't let me select it. Put the old box back in and it hangs up on "Updating", but will actually let me select Sirius in the source options. Replaced the antenna and it worked for a few minutes, then went back to the same old thing after calling Sirius to send the new signal.

I tried Iopaca's solution of removing power to my sirius receiver and it worked. I did it with radio on and listening to sirius with the "updating" message on the screen. I removed power from my SIR-ECL1 by unplugging the white nylon connector from it. The music on the radio stopped. I plugged the nylon connector back in and the music started playing again with the "updating" message on the screen. All my channel presets reset the the factory defaults.
I called sirius to have the update signal resent to my receiver but nothing happened. The sirius technical support person informed me that none of the channel names change for the new christmas music stations. So, I suspect that my receiver fully received the update previously, but was stuck in the updating mode. So, removing power to the unit and plugging it back in was all that needed to be done.

I am having the same issue with my Eclipse radio with Sirius. I called my installer - Al & Ed's - this was the first that they have heard of this. This suggested that the unit be powered down - disconnected and reconnect the power - but warned me that all of the presets would be lost.
I am going to take it in and have them do that. I will re-post re the outcome.
