Have you installed the driver of your printer into your computer? Is this the first time that you experience this issue?
If it worked before, then Try doing a system restore. Go to start or pearl button > accessories > system tools> system restore. restore your computer to the known good date.
If you want to avoid from any major issues in your computer's software then install RadarSync.

If you are putting a document into the printer and want to make a copy of it, press the key that says "copy" on the printers keyboard. Then choose the number of copies you want to make and press the "ok" or "enter" key on the keyboard of the printer.
If the document you wish to make a copy of is located in your computer and you dont have a copy of it to place in your printer - then you need to print the document. Not copy the document. Copy means make another one. You can't copy something that you dont have in your hands. Understand? To print a document that you dont have in your hands, find it on your computer. When you find the document you want to print on the computer, click on "file" in the upper left side corner of your computer screen and slide down to "print" and click on it. Then click on "ok" on the next screen to start printing your document.
If there is no "file" command in the upper left corner of your computer screen when you have the document that you want to print open on the computer - try right clicking with the button on the right side of your mouse in the center of the document and find the "print" command on the drop down list and click on it. Then click on "ok" on the next screen and this will start the printing of your document.
First check if the printer is already installed into your computer.
Start>Control Panel>Printers and Faxes, then check if the printer was installed. e.g. Canon Pixma MG5270
If not please do the following:
1. Check if your printer is connected to the computer via USB, and check if you properly plugged in the power supply.
2. Look for the software or installer of your printer. Insert the CD to the CD-Rom and Install it until the setup completes.
3. After the installation of the printer, click Start>Control Panel>Printers and Faxes, then check if the printer was installed. e.g. Canon Pixma MG5270
4. Then try to print out some document. Just click File>Print and choose your Printer e.g.(Canon Pixma MG5270) then click the O.K. button to print the document.
Open the printer you are talking about in the printers folder or the control panel. Once the window is open click on the "Printer" drop down menu and be sure that "Use Printer Offline" is not checked.
Is this a brand new computer or did you upgrade to Windows 7? If you did an upgrade, you needed to uninstall the old drivers (with the printer disconnected from the computer). Then you could install Windows 7 and finally install the printer.
You can try unplugging the USB cable, uninstalling the printer and then reinstalling it.
What software are you using to create the file that you want to print? With Microsoft Office, I have seen reports that changing the font on a document can cure a failure to print the document with Word.
can you ping your printer from that computer? if not then can you ping other computers on your network? If not then there is something wrong with your computer network on that computer.
Printer connection had come out of the computer port and I hadn't noticed, printer itself is stand alone so was printing photos OK but I couldn't print documents. Everything up and running once again and both printer and computer say cartridges are full.
Well, as I dont know what exactly youre doing I will advise you to do the stantard process:
1. Uninstall the printer completely (COMPLETELY) 2. Copy ALL the document and paste it over a new one (WORD, PUBLISHER... same thing) just open a new document and paste all the text and save it with a different name. 3. Restart the computer 4. Reinstall the driver again and make sure it is OK by printing a TEST PAGE...
IF OK and the test page is OK then print your document.
IF NOT 1: the test page does not comes out OK, then you have a problem either in the printer driver or the printer mechanism (cartridges maybe, try replacing them for originals) if this way thing still bad, you have no better choice than take the printer to a technician as I assume your are clueless in repairing printers.
IF NOT 2: the test page comes out OK and the document does not, (MAKE SURE YOU CHOOSE THE RIGHT PRINTER inside "print options") the problem could be your computer and not your printer.
IF NOT 3: it would be very rare, but you could have a problem with the spool service (the windows service that manages printing matters) but in this case nothing shoud be printed ok. So if the test page is ok, the problem is NOT your printer and you should look for the problem in your computer or your operative system.
