When I plug in my Iphone computer shuts down

It will keep shutting down and rebooting until i unplug the iphone. It worked at one time. After firmware upgrades to my iPhone 16gb, everytime I try to sync the device, the PC shuts down and reboots and does the same thing again. I am reading here that I must first delete photos from my iPhone (or email 125 photos!) and I suppose that may work but I wonder if there may be another solution. I do get a little pop up on the bottom tool bar that acknowledges a USB device present. The message annotates that a camera device has been connected. This is on my XP system. On my Vista, it sees the iPhone as well as a camera device. Sounds like XP problem to me. I do not really know. Thanks for this website and the possible help. I'v had my iphone 3G for a week now without any issue. Today I can't plug it in via USB without the PC going to blue screen. Right before the shut down I can see it recognizes the the iphone as a digital camera. What's different that it doesn't work now?

Unfortunately firmware updates and driver updates for IPhones can be fickled on Windows OS, try rollback the firmware/driver update and see if you are still getting the error. If not you may want to research if the IPhone site has a FAQ or Troubleshooting solution for this.

Iphone shuts off and won't turn back on what do i do?

You might try holding down the power and home buttons at the same time. Wait until you see the silver apple. Thats what I did when mine wouldn't turn back on.there is an easier way instead of just guessing....
when you plug it into any form of charging source...just completely shut down your iphone...and leave it there for how ever long it takes to charge...(to be able to use it again is about 30 minutes)depends on your energy sourceFirst open iTunes and Conect your iPhone cord to your computer, but do not plug it into your iPhone. Then press and hold the home button on your phone while conecting the iPhone cord into your iPhone continue to hold down the home button. Then click restore in iTunes

My iphone 3G just shut off on its own & it will not come back on when I try to trun it back on. Does anyone know more or less what I can do to fix that?

Is it completely charged? Plug it in and charge it overnight.

If it is charged, these steps may help:

Download the latest iTunes to your computer and reset the iPhone. Then re-sync it.

Reset

To reset iPhone, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds. During this time, a red "power off" slider may appear and the screen may go black, but do not release Sleep/Wake and Home buttons until the Apple logo appears.

If iPhone won't turn on, or the display freezes or doesn't respond

  1. Press and hold the Home button for at least six seconds, until the application you were using quits.
  2. If that doesn't work, turn iPhone off and turn it on again. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPhone for a 10 seconds until a red slider appears, and then slide the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
  3. If that doesn't work, reset iPhone. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

More resets:

Try This:
1. Remove Sim Card
2. Hold in 'Home' button and 'On/Off' button together until Apple logo appears
3. Replace Sim Card
4. Hold in 'Home' button and 'On/Off' button together until normal phone screen appears.

Also, Try this:
1.) Shut down the iPhone 3G.
2.) Start up iTunes
3.) Hold down HOME button on the iPhone 3G
4.) While keeping the HOME button depressed, plug in the Sync cable
5.) A message will pop up to ask if you want to reset.
6.) Just click YES and the reset process should start.

IPhone stuck on Startup logo

Reset the iPhone by holding the sleep/wake button at the top right of the device and the home button at the bottom center of the face at the same time. Hold them both until you see the screen go black and the white Apple logo appear. When this happens, you can let go - the iPhone is rebooting.

Resetting the iPhone should not remove or delete any data or settings.

It sounds like your usb port is damaged. Look in the port and see if there is any visible damage. Also, check the usb cord for the iphone and see if it is damaged.

Iphone Jailbreaking Gone bad HELP

First, calm down, grab a cola and chill for a second.
Ok, most likely you have down what I have down and unplugged the iPhone before all the jailbroken data was downloaded and setup.
Follow these steps, yes they work I've had to do this twice now.

NOTE: You need to be plugged up to your computer for this to work

1. Hold down the POWER and HOME buttons untils your phone reboots.

2. Hold POWER button until the iPhone powers OFF

3. Hold POWER and HOME buttons, iPhone will now power on.

4. When you see the apple logo, release the POWER button but keep holding the home button.

5. iTunes should alert you now saying that it has found an iPhone in recovery mode, proceed to recover as normal now.

Also the iPhone screen may go white after doing this until restored, this is normal, it's not broken.

When I plug in my Iphone computer shuts down

Make sure you've got the latest version of Itunes installed, if you have Itunes on your PC at all.

Try changing your drive letters: Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Performance and Maintenance. Make sure you are in Category View. Click Administrative Tools, double-click Computer Management, and then click Disk Management in the left pane. Right-click the drive, the partition and then click Change Drive Letter and Paths. Click Change. Click Assign the following drive letter if it is not already selected, click the drive letter that you want to use, and then click OK. Click Yes when you are prompted to confirm the drive letter change.

Try the IPhone now.

MUCH BETTER SOLUTION:

2. If you do have logitech installed or any other webcam then uninstall all software from this.
3. To do this : Go to start, control panel, add/remove programs and select the logitech or any other software affiliated with the webcam . Uninstall it and then restart your computer.
4. Your problem should now be fixed.

p.s. I had been trying for ages until i found this simple solution which worked instantly.
