I have a fujitsu lifebook N6460 the screen flickers and goes out

The laptop is not even a year and a half old. it mostly sits in one spot and hasn't been thrown around or dropped. the screen will flicker then sometimes go dark. if its light enough in the house, i can see the screen hasn't gone black, it just seems like the light went out, as i can still see the desktop (or whatever window i was using). the flickering until you try to stop it. sometimes almost closing it shut stops it, but it can start up again when opening it back up. closing it completely shut sometimes helps as well.

thank you!!! i wouldn't say there is a whine, but it does seem like the fan (or something that has a vent) has become extra loud lately. i'll seek out a repair guy with your advice.

Sounds like you back light or LCD inverter is going out, If you don't hear a whine then it is just the LCD screen, if you hear that whine then it is the inverter. An inverter will run 40-60 dolloars as opposed to and LCD screen which usually start around 100 and go up...

Hope this helps, if so please rate my solution accordingly.

Since it seems as though you dont move it very much you might be able to hook an external monitor up to it and using the Fn+F5 button swap it to use the external monitor untill you can get it repaired.

Fujitsu Lifebook C4135 specs (32bit CardBus slot included?)

This is a very old laptop, when new it was installed with Windows 98.
Not sure if it had a PCMCIA slot on the laptop, but it can be easily identified if you look on the laptop. If it has PCMCIA slots, most likely it would be located on the LHS or RHS of the laptop. The PCMCIA could be a single slot or a double slot and it would be 55mm wide ie 2 3/4 inches wide with an eject button for a single slot and two eject buttons for a double slot.

Display problem in Fujitsu LifeBook C Series(c-6631

the internal bulbs of ur monitor screen have deteriorated...the manufacturers are real smart, these monitors dont last forever. So if repair estimate is too expensive then replace the whole unit.

Always purchase laptop or notebooks NEW or never more than 5 years old.

Display of the Laptop is not coming at all

You could have a defective screen - a defective inverter or a CCFL lamp.
To determine if you have a LCD screen or video card problem, read this and follow the instructions.

Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom:
  • Screen flashs on red/pink and off.
  • Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal.
  • Picture flickering with dim display or appear black.
  • Picture flickering on and off.
All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp

Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight.

Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

Some black colors are replaced with red blue flickreing in whites

Hi there
Firstly reinstall the graphics drivers, if its still the same there is a problem with the graphics card and you'll have to have it looked at.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!
