Installing SSH on iphone...easy instructions?

Looking for a way to install SSH on iphone. The instructions on the web seem to be difficult and required some unix background. Does anyone have the same problems?

Open Cydia, and go to Section and then All Application. You will get Open SSh.

Here's what you get when you follow the link above: "You're an idiot! Don't trust Web2.0 with your iPhone! You'll lose everything" Then you are taken to a "flame site" that says other phones are better. Helpful? I don't think so. If you want to use SSH, go get a copy of "Unix for Mac" (ISBN 0-7646-3730-X) Wiley 2003 to figure out the Unix bits to begin your exploration of the iPhone. There are also several sites engaged in hacking the iPhone, many of which use SSH as a part of the process.

Nliwilson, "end users simply do not want/have the time to learn an OS in depth and why should they?" Thank you, it's about time someone said it! It makes no sense to advise end-users to lern *NIXes indepth when what end-users want is a solution they can understand without 2-3 months of self training, does take you to a secure SSH portal that does the job and is not a threat to your phone. Mac users are used to things just working & thats exactly as things should be, I know this can be hard to get your head around if your a Microstress Windoze user because you have absolutely no basis for comparison, but non-Microsoft OS's actualy do what they claim to without all the hassle and work involved in getting Windoze to do anythig all the way through. The point about security is well made, don't apply Windoze securty issues to an OS that actualy does what it's supposed to.

OK, just tested nliwilson's new solutions and they do indeed work.
Looks like I have to eat humble pie and apologise as well, the 1'st site listed is indeed childish nonsense that looks real at 1'st.
nliwilson, we need to get our heads together and wrte a guide to supporting end-users, there are to many solutions posted on this site that follow the ViewFinder style of telling an end user to start in the middle and waste days/weeks/months learning stuff they don't need to know.

So you haven't actually followed the link then ViewFinder? does in fact take you to an SSH portal and I don't post links to malicious sites.
You are not going to lose anything on your phone by using this as we're not talking about using a Windows based device, the iPhone uses a full Mac OS X core and is therefor not in any way prone to Windows security issues.
Web 2.0 is a collection of technologies that will become more and more important over the next few years and lead the way to the future of software structuring. Advising people to avoid using Web 2.0 just because Windows is vulnerable is asking people to make life increasingly difficult for themselves over the next few years and Windows is vulnerable regardless.
Mac OS X is BSD based and although BSD is a UNIX derivative Mac OS X is not exactly the same as either of them.
More to the point most end users simply do not want/have the time to learn an OS in depth and why should they?
So stop trying to sell a book through this site and please please don't waste everybody's time by posting unless you actually know what your talking about.

Darn, terns out that ViewFinder is correct, if you actually click Start SSH Session you do indeed get a load of juvenile nonsense and I can only apologise.
Thankfully (pulling my a**s out of the fire) there is a genuine browser based solution you can download from I have fully tested it this time and it actually works.
Also if you want a slightly more technical but clearly explained solution you can go to
Once again I apologise for my mistake and have made sure the solutions I am posting now work.
However I stand by my comments about the appropriateness of a solution that involves an end user having to learn UN*Xes in depth and would like to thank NIXnerd for his comments about supporting end users.

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

Dont know how tu instal

I would either recommend contacting your hosting provider or move to a new server with something like Plesk so you can easily manage and deploy applications such as wordpress. offers very nice VPS solutions that include Plesk.

Iphone stuck logo

Without having installed openssh, there's no way for you to go in and correct the issue without your iPhone booting correctly. Sounds like you'll have to restore and reacquire your files. App store files should still be available. I'd recommend using the Cydia tweak pkgbackup to backup your cydia files as well.

I have iphone 3g version 4.1 i wont to unlock it

You can try to use "tinyUmbrella" to see if cydia has you ssh on file..
tinyumbrella website

once you start the software you click the button save my ssh..

once it's done processing you can click on start tss server

This tss server will allow you to bypass itunes server which restricts downgrading firmware...

Once Tss server is running you can start itunes

once itunes detects your iphone shift + click on restore

Select the iphone 3g 4.0.1 firmware (goto to download this)

Once it restores fully at the end it will give itunes error '1015'

dont worry..

Install Libusb if you dont have it..(Click here)
after installing libusb just use this program.. ih8snow
Click on "Fix recovery mode loop"

Click on yes to "do you have libusb installed??"

Select iphone 3g from the list

your iphone will reboot..

now you can first activate it ..

then you can use safari to goto
slide the slider at the bottom...

it will download cydia

when cydia is installed you have to add "" as a source
Its a zero "0" in the sn0w not "o"...

Search google how to add new sources.. to cydia..

Once you are done installing the application inside the source your phone will be finally unlocked..

Of course easier way out would be to pay someone who knows how to do this..

Cant go send sms through contact application

You have to restore your iphone to factory settings. then you must re jailbreak your iphone to get cydia and the installer app on there. After install the SMS program and make sure you dont delete the original SMS program that came with the iPhone. I suggest you download poof! and just hide the SMS app that came with the Iphone.

It is difficult for me to completely understand your problem. What version of firmware are you running? Do you have multi-pages enabled with Summerboard? If not, new apps you install will push other apps (like off your main page.

To fix this quickly, you will need to ssh into your phone to change the plist data and move to the front of your list. Then, install summerboard to get multi pages enabled.

If you don't know what ssh is, then you'll need to:
restore your phone completely to 1.1.3 using itunes
download ziphone from
run ziphone -j

now you'll be fixed.

Iphone touch screen

Hello, Have you tried resetting the iPhone? Hold the main round button on the front in while also holding the small button on top of the unit in. Hold these both in until you see the screen change or it shuts down completely.
