Rebuilds Randomly So I'll have my Zen Vision M 30gb in my pocket on hold while listening to tunes in random mode, when all of a sudden the thing reboots as if i were to hit the reset button. It rebuilds my library and when it does it goes back to playing and then it happens again. And the constant rebuilding drains my battery.. also ive given the player a shakin to see if the reset swich was loose inside or something but i cant recreate the result.. so im out of ideas

Do the following on the Vision:M and run a cleanup. First, enter into rescue mode by detaching the Zen Vision:M player from your PC , and making sure that the unit is off.
Then, Slide the power switch towards the power icon and hold the switch in the Power On position.
Next, Push the end of a straightened paper clip into the reset hole, and press gently and remove.
The recovery mode will come up, I would choose clean up, this will not erase anything.
Also, I make sure the player is off before you shake it, as you can damage the hard drive inside if it is on when you shake it.

While playing my zen vision m it spontaneously reboots & rebuilds

Hey, I also have this problem and I've been looking for an answer. So far I've taken it apart and made sure everything was securely connected and cleaned out a little dust. Yesterday, I also updated the firmware, which had no effect, but I'm not sure if this is a hardware problem or something else. Mine also randomly glitches randomly while playing songs, to the point where I have to reset it, and sometimes the screen goes black and nothing plays and I can't get it to turn off, so I have to reset. Please let me know if you've found an answer!

Suddenly my creative zen vision m 30GB turned off and will not power back on. It will not enter recovery mode or respond to being plugged in. any ideas of whats wrong, and is there a way i can fix it?

have you tried to plug into AC yet? once mine simply refused to turn back on after a nice freeze, the reset hole did not work, and Pc did not recognised the player. It only entered recovery mode (automatically) when I used the AC charger as a last resort. if the recovery screen comes up, select reboot...

Problem in Zen Vision m:30GB, It has been locked,no operation

Hi:

Look at the power switch at the top. You have probably turned it all the way to the left when you turned it on. It has a locked position to keep it the settings from being changed by acident when it is in your pocket

Firmware problem for zen vision M

I had the same issue with my zen vision m. It was not recognized on any computer (although it would charge) and I noticed that when I turned it on after having it off for any amount of time, the zen would rebuild half way before turning on.
If this is what is happening with you, then this one solution I found to fix it:
Download the MP3 Recovery Tool from Creative Support website. Make sure that your Zen is charged at least half.   Turn on your Zen, Holding the power switch in the on position (Very Important!). While holding the Power switch on, Reset the Zen by inserting a small object in the Reset hole on the bottom of the Zen (small objects can include thumbtack, wire, earring, etc...). You will see a menu: Clean Up, Format, Reload OS/Firmware, Reboot. (It is now safe to stop holding the Power switch) I decided to go down the list until something worked.  I ran Clean Up first and that didn't work for me, so I tried Format.  It will remove all of your data. Once Format runs, Reboot the MP3 player and plug it up to the computer. Run MP3 Recovery Tool. The firmware should should install itself on your MP3. Once installed, your computer should recognize the Zen.
I hope this helps!

Buttons won't work

Reset - do the four things in svc mode

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard
