The palm desktop software froze up and I had to hard stop my laptop. When I pulled the software up again, all of my calander information was gone. So, I thought if I hot-synced w/ my pda it would put the pda info back on the desktop. Instead, it deleted all the info on my pda.
Now, my home computer still has the calander information that I need on it. So, I want to delete the user on my pda and then hot sync.
You should be able to hard reset the palm and erase all data. There should be a rest pin hole on the back, hold it and press the power button. All internal memory will be erased.

Hi, If you go to www.palm.com you will find it there. Go to this website and then select PDA's. From there you will be redirected to another webpage and on this one will be a list of all the different pda models. You can get the palm desktop software on any of these pages. Best wishes.
Unless I'm not understanding your question, any entries that you delete from either the desktop or PDA will delete from the other device when you sync your PDA.
So, if you delete an item from your Palm desktop, the next time you sync your PDA to your desktop, the entry will be deleted from your PDA as well.
But, if you haven't backed up / synced your PDA to your desktop yet, install and run Hotsync Manager - do that first. And, perform that procedure often so that your info on your PDA will be safe on your desktop.
Ok that is an easy fix. Open up your palm desktop software and click on "tools" which it up in the upper left hand corner of your palm desktop. Click on that and then on "users". From there you will get another box and in there it will show the name that is associated with the PDA. You can delete that name and add the name of your choice.
Ok, do a hard reset in you pda, in your PC, using you palm d., open you user files, export your adresses and memos; then create a new user and import all this data and do a hotsync
Yes, just go to the windows website and have it check your system for any updates. It will check your system and see what updates you need. I'll be honest with you, vista can be a pain in the backside but it also can be great and I'm sure will be great once they work all the bugs out.
Hi, the best option would be a hard reset. Before doing so, i would suggest doing one lase hotsync.
at the back of your pda, there is a reset button. press this. be prepared. as it is resetting, press and hold the power button as well as the up button. hold these for like 3 seconds then release. it will then ask you whether you wanted to reset it. press the up button once again and release. it will then reset the pda.
if these instructions are still difficult there are some at palm.com. best of luck.
Sounds like your PDA is not communicating with the desktop software properly. (is it a refurbished unit?). I would recommend you un-install the desktop software completely, then do a hard reset on the unit. This should start you from scratch. Then, re-install the software and re-boot the TX and configure it, and try a brand new sync. If this doesn't help, you might have to return it. But first, try it with the desktop software on a DIFFERENT computer.
yes I moved my files to a new machine and reinstalled palm
(which of course also created the dreaded multiple copies of many palm contacts, when palm discovered older archives, but that is another story!) I wouldn't mind that if the palm pilot would just sync with outlook 2003. It synched with Outlook 2000 on my old machine.
Definitely something to address with Audible
Digital Rights Management of Audible files is controlled and managed by Audible. In general the way these schemes work is to write some kind of key or token file to your handheld when you first setup your Audble account. Unless the keyfile is present, the player will give you the response you mentioned. With Audible, you can move the authorization from one device to another by deactivating one device and activating another.
In your case, you seem to have deactivated your Zire 31 somehow. I suspect that you may have put a new user on the Zire 31 and therefore the DRM keyfile is no longer part of your files on the Zire. It would be associated with the old username and no longer on your handheld.
I suspect what you have to do is re-authorize your Zire 31 using the Audible Manager on the PC.
