What is the air gap for the coils on 24hp Briggs and Stratton engine

24hp is just the engine output. With the model number, you can find the manual.

What should the coil gap on Briggs and Stratton?
An ignition armature must be set at a precise distance from the flywheel. Your engine repair manual will provide the proper gap for your engine. Common armature gap ranges are .006 - .010" and .010 - .014". Armatures are often packaged with a shim to assist in setting the gap. Index cards of the proper thickness also work well.

How to test and repair small engine ignition system problems?

Point gap and dwell for 972 datsun 521 pickup

Point gap can be set using a match book cover. It will be about 0.015. The set the dwell angle base on how the engine runs. In a four-cylinder engine, the angle between each ignition cam lobe is 90° and the period of points closure or "DWELL" is usually a bit over 45° of distributor rotation. In a six-cylinder engine, the lobes are 60° apart and the dwell time is 30° to 35°.

I took apart the ignition on Husqvarna YTH22V46 22 HP riding mower, put it back now won't start at all

The distance between the coil and flywheel must be properly set. You will need to go to the engine manufacturer's web site with the engine information and get the gap distance. If the gap is too wide you will not get spark.

Ignition mystery! 1994 GMC Suburban 2500 5.7 mtr. No spark to spark plugs. Have spark from coil to distributor. Have changed coil wire, cap, rotor, ignition module, and coil. have 12.5 volts going to...

I guess you could have the ignition analyzed on an oscilloscope. Maybe a tech could see something then.
I always heard the only gap was the spark plug gap-the rotor has no gap-are you sure you got the correct rotor? And does it touch the top distributor cap coil wire tower?

Let us know. It is a mystery worthy of a solution.

I have a Toro Super Recycler Mdl 20033 ser 230000001 and up. Lawn mower will not start, there is no spark. New spark plug and fuel line. Change the magneto? Is this simple?

You may not need to change the ignition module. The "air-gap" on it may just need to be adjusted. That is, the distance between the pickup legs of the ignition module and the magnets integrated into the flywheel. You would have to remove the exterior cover and any sheet metal cowling (directs air flow off the flywheel around the engines cylinder). Then, the coil and flywheel should be visible. I use a standard business card as a gauge. Slide it between the coil legs and the magnet area of the flywheel. You should feel just a slight little rub. If it won't slide or the gap is large, no spark will be produced. You will have to loosen the screws holding the coil in place, double up the card. let the magnets pull the legs in against the card with magnets behind and retighten. Then recheck for spark. Post back if needed.

My 1974 Yamaha 250 Enduro wont start I have cleaned and redone the carb. I have changed the coil pack and spark plug. Any suggestions will help Im not a mechanic by any means so not sure where to start...

you need good compression ( at least 90 psi , kicking it with the throttle open) , good crankshaft seals for sucking the fuel/air into the botton end, proper point gap and timing set for spark ( spark should be big and fat,if not the source coil is weak,, this is a flywheel magnito ignition and it needs no battery to fire the plug) if you clean the carb, make sure you also clean the choke pickup tube or it wont choke. also make sure you have the slide installed in the right direction ( not backwards and the idle is not set too high at first...compression/****-good spark at the right time-proper fuel/air ratio and it will run
