SOURCE: Trying to replace 3 speed ceiling fan switch

Hello,

The black goes to the L connection the others are a guess. You can do this two ways. Connect the colored wires in any sequence and then see what switch sequence give you high and lowest, the other one will be medium. Once you determine that, mark the wires with a piece of masking tape as high, medium and low. Otherwise you connect them, turn power on and use a multimeter to see which color gives you the highest voltage and which gives you lowest. Since you aren't comfortable using live wires and a meter, go with the first option and use the process of elimination to find the wires giving you the speeds you need to find the highest and lowest. Next, you need to determine how your switch sequence works. First pull has to give you highest speed. so you may end up wiring them in reverse if your first attempt is backwards. There is a reason the first pull needs to be highest, it powers up the motor so you can then chose a lower setting. A low setting first will over tax your motor and wear it out eventually as it has to work harder at first.

Let me know if you need further clarification and perhaps this is all you need to get fixed.

Regards,
Worldvet
ps I checked on the Internet of a wiring diagram and I bet you did tok all to no avail.

SOURCE: installation of wall remote for harbor breeze ceiling fans

One black wire on the switch hooked to the black sources wire. The other black wire on the switch hooked black up to the fan. The green on the switch wire goes to the bare wire. If there is bare wire you can use the white wire.

SOURCE: Remote fans quit working during a thunderstorm-lots of lightning

I've been having the same problem with my remote not working. I actually just checked the dipswitches in the remote against the ones in the ceiling fan, and they somehow were not the same. It seems that the 4th dipswitch may have inadvertently been altered due to the battery either being changed or just moving. I advise you all check out the settings on the actual fan to see whether or not they match up.

Twist the cap covering the wiring above the fan (make sure the power is off, just in case), and you will see a black box like thing straddled towards the top. There is a little rubber square cap guarding the dipswitches. Take that off and note the setting of the 4 switches (on/off). Compare it with the remote by taking the batter pack off and looking at the 4 switches there.

I noticed that the 4th switch on my remote was turned on when it should have been off. I changed it back, and now it works.

Hopefully this helps you all.

We have a thirty year old Hunter ceiling fan with all the wires hanging out of it, I need a diagram that shows how all the wires are wired up

All due respect, but if your ceiling fan is 30 years old, replace it - soon. If you choose not to do that, Having installed at least 15 of them over the years, I can with certainty tell you that the hookup is exactly the same. It's a little more involved if you have a unit in which the lights can be turned on and off without engaging the fan - or vice versa. That may be why you have "wires hanging out of it".

How to fix pull chain for lights on a ceiling fan?

You will probably have to replace the switch that is controlled by the chain. You will need one withe the same number of wires coming out of it. Find out the type of fan and google it. If it is a cheap fan I would replace the entire unit, it if is also old.

Encon fan with two seperate switches. Switch works fan, but switch doesn't work light. I replaced wall switch, it didn't help.

Make sure the fan light wire is connected in the ceiling otherwise you might need a new pull chain for the light.

Replacing a pull switch on an Encon fan. 4 wires. Didn't label wires before I pulled them out. Number on old switch is 1282M and 17292101 with A B C D labels. Can you tell me which wires go where? ...

I have just figured out the wiring to my Encon 5TD42WHC ceiling fan. (This is not to say your fan won't be different.) You can't use just any switch; the switches vary in operation. See the images attached. Good luck, and be careful working with AC voltages.

I have a ceiling mount Encon fan/light. While trouble shooting, I found that the motor capacitor had "opened", and the sides of which had blown outward. I want to get a new capacitor. The model is:...

You don't need those particular models of capacitors, all capacitors with those characteristics (.2 and .4 microfarad at at least 200 volts) will do. You can find them at all hobby shops - just remove them and ask for a similar one.

I need a celing mounting bracket for 52in 5 blade encon ceiling fan. where can i get one the model # is 94b03-0395

I just uninstalled my 29 year old Encon flush mount fan light. The number on the base is E101004. It was a lighted base. The mount bracket is built into the base. It is the 4 prong and hook style the allows the motor to hang suspended while wiring and then swings up. There is a glass ring that is sandwiched between the base plate and decorative bottom.
It's the only usable part besides the 4 glass light covers. You can save this from the land fill if you haven't purchased a replacement fan.

CEILING FAN 3SPEED 4WIRE HUDSON BAY

Usually when you say 4 wire, the correct electrical definition is 12/3 or 14/3 with a ground, depending on the amperage capacity of the circuit that the fixture is powered by. The bare copper wire is case ground which goes to the metal body of the fan and is combined with all the other bare copper grounds in the switch box on the wall. The white wire is the neutral or return. it is connected to the white wire in the fan at the ceiling box and combined with all the other white wores in the switch box. The black wire is usually the light power which is then connected to the appropriate connection (labeled) on the switch in the switch box on the wall. The red wire is the power for the fan (which is also labeled) in the switchbox on the wall. Sometimes the wiring at the ceiling box is not 4 conductors especially in older buildings, then the fan and the light power wires are combined at the ceiling box with the existing black wire. Then the ceiling fan and light goes on and off at the wall switch together and the speeds are controlled by a pull chain at the fan. The kight can be shut off with a pull chain also so that the fan is on onl.y.
