Question about JVC AV-48WP30 48" Rear Projection Television
I just got this TV from someone and they said it needs the convergence fixed. The screen looks like a sideways hourglass with the 3 different colors in different portions of the screen. When I go to the convergence adjustment in the menu, the crosses are all way off. It will not respond to the commands on the menu and will not let me adjust it or even get out of the convergence menu. I have to wait for the menu to time out to clear. Every other feature on the menu works but the convergence. Can you tell me exactly what I need to do to fix this? Is this something I can do myself or will I need to have it done by a tech? Thanks for your help.
This sounds like not only convergence but also bad resistors on the convergence board. There are several resistors in the convergence area, I would change the convergence amps and have the resistors replaced. Look for burnt resistor or just colored differently than the others. check also for loose connections. you can tap on safely converg. board and see if problem changes.
