Panasonic portable player will not play, just sits there and clicks..any ideas

  • genester49 Mar 18, 2009

Thx, I see what you mean by the laser moving about a 1/8 inch or so searching...one other think was the spindle just sitting there so without it spinning up the laser unit will do it search until it times out...anyway to check why the spindle does not spin up.

The clicking sound you are hearing is the laser unit, it slides back and fourth on a track pushed by gears.
Have you dropped it or bumped it at all ?

That tends to be the cause but sometimes is just a defect in the product itself. It's not moving back and fourth so the laser cannot read the disk.

There is little you can do to fix it, If you try to force the laser back and fourth (you can see it when you open the lid and remove a cd) it will only damage it more. You will have to break down and buy a new one sorry.

Good luck, hope this shed some light on the issue. Thank you for coming by fixya!

My panasonic dvd player type dmr-ex769eb wont play a dvd and a message is displyed saying incompatible tv system can I change any settings to play this dvd

No, your machine will have a Region Code shown on the box or in the manual. You're trying to play a DVD with a different Region Code. There may be an unofficial modification, but you'd need to search the dark corners of the internet to find it.

My Panasonic SAPT480 won't play dvd+

You can buy a DVD cleaning kit and follow instructions, or get a Q-Tip and rubbing alcohol, gently clean the lens and allow several minutes to dry before testing, if this fails the whole laser pickup assembly will need to be replaced, cheaper to buy a new player.

The DVD player has a clicking noise that does not allow the DVD to play - what can be done to fix this problem

The clicking noise is caused by the pladder disc the dvd sits on, you can attempt to take the lid off and see if you can adjust the pladder disc a notch up, if that does not work it indicates a bad pladder motor.

Panasonic portable DVD player

Hi,

On most Panasonic, error code HO3 indicates a mechanical problem, more specifically, the cradle that supports the laser eye could not traverse along its path. Corrective action requires opening the unit, cleaning the slider bar, plastic cogs, worm gear/drive. It may help to use a can of compressed air and re-lubricate appropriate parts. Since the unit is open and expectantly dust would be swirling after the use of the compressed air, it may be to your advantage to swab/clean the lens itself prior to closing.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Reading but DVD is not spinning in portable dvd player

Some suggestions assuming you know you're using good discs, and have this problem with more then 1 disc. In anything that requires you to open the player and play around in it, I also assume you're not too akward with electronics, and out of warranty: spindle motor problems - you could either fix that by changing the motor, or occasionaly by dropping a little bit of 3 in 1 oil on the shaft. Just dont start it as a hobby if you can still go complain at the store... Good luck
