Wii memory card for gamecube

I have just purchased a wii memory card so that my son could save his progress when playing lego star wars. He is using a gamecube disc and controller with the wii. The message no memory card is inserted appears on the screen. Why is this?

You need a Game Cube memory card to save Game Cube Data, it goes in on the left side of the Wii near the back by where controller 1 plugs in.

- Not a problem. Check out a used video game store like Gamestop and you can find it. You can try a pawn shop but your more likely to find it at Gamestop and they're by far more reliable.
