Hello, my name is Ervin Bartha i got a system with an Abit GD8 Pro MB the videoboard is(new) in PCI bus the memory is (new) Kingmax 1Gb on 800.
When i try to switch on the system nothing happens on the monitor, tryed with several videoboards also in PCI-E bus.
When i take out the memory module i receive the beep alerts that the memory is missing, The cooler on the CPU is ok(working) no HDD or CDrom is connected.

If someone got any help please post it.

Thank You

- Ram is ok, i had tried also to reset the CMOS with jumper, but it doesn't helps, but i found somewhere a trick when reseting the CMOS remove the baterry and leave the CMOS reset jumper active for 1 min, and after keep pressed the insert button when switching on the system, i t worked and i had also entered in the BIOS but after saving the settings in the BIOS the next restart result was tha same, again i cant see anything on the monitor neither the monitor led is turning green.

Maybe the BIOS is damaged or it can be something else?

- I had tried with several memory modules and the same also tested with memtest86

- Yes i had tried also to load Fail-Safe option and saved the settings but after exiting the BIOS i had the same issue.
I had also upgrade the bios to the last rev. GD8p_14 but it is the same result.

- This is an ABIT MB and not new, it was working before, but 1 year was not powered on and stayed in a warehouse

- Nah i think not i am ESD equipped with special ESD shoe i am working in a Electronic board manufacturing factory all the persons are equipped with protections. It is strange because i can use the PC every time i reset the bios without battery but after a new restart or a shut down all is gone.

Try resetting the CMOS again, but this time when you enter the BIOS, save the factory default settings. See if it works afterward.

It sounds like bad RAM. Do you have any other sticks you can try just to test it? Also, have you attempted a CMOS reset

Alright, this sounds like the board was DOA (Dead on Arrival). Unfortunately it sounds like you will have to contact ASUS and request an RMA or a refund. This has been happening more often with ASUS products recently and is definitely a pain.

You should be able to find your way from here: http://support.asus.com/

You might give their tech-support a shot, just to ensure that it's not DOA. However this seems to be the case and will require you to either get a refund or replace (RMA) the board.

All the best.

- Hmmm. Strange. Did anyone touch it before discharging static electricity? There's the possibility some sensitive part of the board got messed up by a directional flow of electricity heading in the wrong direction.

- Yes, that is quite strange. Have you contacted ASUS asking them if they have ever encountered such an issue or if they know how to fix it?
