When the washing machine is on, all the lights out an stops

when i put the washing machine on a cycle half way thorught the cycle the lights will go out, and the wash will stop untill i press the pause button twice then it will go again. This will happen about four times during one cycle.
I know this sounds silly but do you thin k i need to geyt a new washing machine? I have had this one for about 7 yrs.
