Question about RCA F36685 36" TV

1 Answer

RCA F36689 with Chassis CTC197CR

It seems like when it overheats, I lose the video. When I push the power button to turn the TV on, the video(with perfect picture)& audio will come on nice and clear but after 3 to 4 minutes, the TV will shut-down but will turn on again with only audio but no video. If I shut down and wait for some 15 minutes or more and turn the TV back on again, it will do the same thing as the above. But this time the Main Menu will be on screen for resetting. Do you know what the issue might be? I'm most certain that I need a TV technician to look into it but thought I'd check first with you. I tried using an non conductive cleaning aerosol to rid of dust. I think I could use this too to cool the parts but just can?t be certain where to aim it to. Thanks for whatever help you can extend me!

Hi Dolores,
Just curious on a t.v. that is 21 yrs. old, but when was the last time that the t.v.was taken apart and vacuumed by a professional. It's very hard to troubleshoot it without seeing it but many times the t.v.'s overheat due to the build up of dirt and dust within the chassis.
