No audio when powered on!

When I turn the system on no sound, a robotic sound as audio comes in and this started taking 15 min now it takes 45 min to an hour before I get audio. This system turns off at will. I tried unplugging for about an hour to reset system but no good. my system is about 4 years old. does anyone else have this problem? do I need to suck it up and by a new system/brand? Any info would be appreciated. It would happen at the beginning of football season!

No audio in home theater system until unit warms up

Make sure the receiver is set to use HDMI. Follow your instrution manual on how to set up the HDMI setting. Also, just try a regular HDMI cable. You don't have to spend a lot of money for the cable. All of the HDMI are the same. I was having trouble with my HDMI and read a lot about the cables so, try a $6.99 cable.
Also, make sur you have the cable push in all the way into the TV and receiver. Hope this helped.

I'm having the same problem. I don't think it has anything to do with the Sleep settings, you can play with them all day & the only benefit you may get is forcing it to stay on for 90 min or whatever instead of 15.
(I've tried setting to 00, obviously the first thing that comes to mind is that it's a Sleep Setting issue, but I seriously doubt this. You can't even set the Sleep Setting to 15min anyway)

Instead, I'm pretty sure that the problem exists in the sound bar not recognizing that there is an active signal & is shutting off due to what it sees as inactivity (timing out after use). I've come to this conclusion due to multiple complaints of the same problem.

Some people are reporting that it's not happening when they watch movies, others have tested & said the radio stays on as long as you like, a couple people have posted that theirs works fine & only shuts off when they turn off about 15 minutes after they shut off the audio source, which leads me to think that this is what is going on, the system thinks the audio source (TV, Bluray, etc) is off & no sound is coming through. It must have a funny way of detecting it...

I will try a few tests & if anything works I will pay the results. One person claimed there's stayed on after turning their TV all the way up... I could try this but will have to turn TV speakers off (currently I am running both TV speakers & sound bar). Anyway, I'll keep digging, must be some way to get this to work, I hope...

Beim Firmware Update stopt das System bei UPD5/5 - keine weitere Reaktion ???

the firmware update for sc-bt200 & sa-bt200 takes approx 10 mins. the box will display UPD5/5 - this process takes about 10-15 minutes, the box will switch off automatically. Leave for 30 seconds, and power on manually with your remote control - the screen will display - "firwmware update completed.".

Protected in short means that the amp is no longer powering the speakers due to one of the following: 1. Volume is up too loud 2. Equipment Failure 3. Dirty power
Turn amp on by pressing the function button on the remote of a source that has nothing on it or is not powered on. If it still says PROTECTED even though you are on a source with no sound coming in, then the equipment is in need of repair. If it simply comes on normal displaying the source turn the volume down till it says MIN. Find the range of your speaker and amp power by selecting a source with music or movie audio and slowly turn it up till either its too loud or says protected. Be sure to double check all speakers and wires to ensure wire integrity as well as proper connection.

You can try the Optical input to the surround unit if the direct TV box has that type of output. That would be the best way to connect if you can to any external device. Good luck.

This was posted a while ago, so I'm sure it's probably been solved by now. For anyone with audio issues using this or any other Lifestyle system: If you experience audio problems (no audio, intermittent audio) from more than just 1 source (especially if it involves internal sources like DVDs or the radio) then just reset this by unplugging the power for about 30+ seconds from the bass module and the media center DC power. Check the audio input cable (multi-pin din going from the media center to the bass module) for bent pins.
If this doesn't solve the problem, you could try replacing the input cable, but those are usually pretty robust. You could call Bose at 800-367-4008 for tech support or to set up a repair if this fails.
