The question for you is that are you talking about the lan lights that are on the back of the computer were you hook up your ISP providers cable and you should see a green and orange light signifying you have Internet connection with those lights are off that means something's wrong with the gateway or box, or the cable could be faulty i needed to be more specific on where these lights are

I'm not sure what you mean--are you referring to the computer "box" as your hard drive? Probably.
One light means you have power (usually green) and the other is yellow indicating that your hard drive is being accessed.
The message you are getting is referring to the mail server to which you are trying to connect. It could be a timeout problem with your e-mail program.
Have you contacted the ISP that handles your e-mail?

What Email are you using??
If you are doing internet based web mail,(you have to log into a website to see it) you are loosing your connection intermittently. Other browsing of the web could run without caring about the crop. If you are using pc based email that uses the internet to send you still might have an intermittent connection. Your program definitely thinks it is talking to a server and the connection is dropping. If this is totally on your PC and you have only one drive you would have other problems if the drive were failing.
