Re: ipod charger

1 question: how did you do that? i thought the Ipod and the sansa have different adapter types? anyway, i'd suggest getting a new battery. and it's probably because the sansa and ipod use don't use the same amount of energy (volts, etc.) that this happened.

No. The pinouts are different. You can fry a Sansa by using an iPod cable or vice versa.

There is a trick to charging the battery in these small mp3 players. It wont charge if it is turned on, and it won't charges if it's turned off. Here what to do...
1. plug the payer into your USB port. or wall charger
2. switch thje palyer on using the mechanical switch (on the side)
3. turn it off by either holding down the play button, or selecting "System" from the menu
4. The screen will go black and the battery will begin charging.

Sansa shorted out from an ipod dock

that wasnt the best idea to start out with,
but it was a good heads up for me.

uhm,,,, i'd check with sansa to see if you have a warranty available,
otherwise you may have to replace your mp3 player.
not the best news, but its the truth.

Your USB port must be repaired. In the meantime, hopefully, your computer has another USB port that you can use. Battery is a replaceable lithium ion rechargeable battery. There are battery chargers that you can connect to wall outlets - the type that plug into the computer would probably require that you plug it into the USB port, which you said is broken - so that's a no-go. There are multiple vendors for battery chargers - one possibility is

Hmmm...the MP3 parts shouldn't have lined up with the iPod dock. Check that area for damage in case your son accidentally forced it. Otherwise, hold the power button for 15 seconds. That can occasionally jump-start my player, and it turns the player off even if it is frozen.
