Question about Refrigerators
I have a whirlpool american fridge freezer - 6th sence no frost model S2ODRSS33-A/G. I have ordered a new filter as it is reading F-01%. The digital panel is constantly flashing -factory setting 18% is gone and is now showing --. The fridge part of the fridge is not at all cold - its at factory settings which is 5 degrees. Everything is going off in the fridge. Is this happening because of it needing a new filter or is it something else altogether.

You would like to know what to do if the fridge is getting to cold and has started to freeze certain foods. You have the fridge set to 6 degrees which is the watmest it will go, this makes no difference.
You have an electrical problem. Most likely a bad thermostat. If it is under warranty you're covered! If not then you need a local pro. I do not recomend "do it yourself" on this. It can become very dificult to properly diagnose and expensive to start replacing parts. The local pro will have the diagnostic equipment and knowlege to solve this and it will come with a guarantee, no handyman allowed in this case.
If the fridge is old it may be best to buy a new one.

The temp for the fridge is about right and -18 for the freezer is ok so check to see if the water filter is plugged, at 8 degrees Celsius is about 18 degrees fht. Which is freezing so the numbers don't add up. 26 degrees below zero on the freezer side is what you want if it that cold it could have frozen the water line.

Be very careful, when the ice maker malfunctions, many things can be the culprit. The start device on some models of refridgerator for maytag and whirlpool have been recalled. If your appliance was manufactured in the last 5-10 years you may be having an issue with this component. Mine recently caught on fire at this device that is located near the compressor. If you would like to be a part of the petition for a recall on this appliance contact me at email@example.com
