Vertical output IC shorted. Replace it. Before replacing it, check all the associated components connected to its terminals for failure; especially for any zener diodes for short. It is most possible case. Refer its circuit digram [schematic diagram] for more details.

Turn on TV, no picture but sound is ok, thin white line running across screen


You have a frame collapse problem. Line, EHT, power supply, video and sound stages are all functioning. Check frame output ic for dry joints, resolder all pins. HT supply for output ic's derived from line stage check for open circuit safety resistors around line output transformer, if you find any then frame output ic will also be suspect. WARNING Very high voltages exist around the line stage. Make cold tests with Ohm meter with set unpluged from mains supply.

that's how switching power supplies trouble you...hint: put a bulb in series with the power cord, in this case you will avoid burning resistors or fuses. A short or overloaded circuit will indicate a bright light...get it? try to google also for troubleshooting switch-mode power supplies (SMPS)...did you check the power regulator IC? hope this will help you

Picture looks like it is in 3D


Yes you need to replace both convergence ICs. They are both STK392-150 you will also need to replace the 6 feed resistors. You will need ( two ) 1.8 ohm 1watt metal film resistors.
( one) 3.3 ohm 1watt, ( 0ne) 2.7 ohm 1watt, ( one) 4.7 ohm 1 watt, and ( one ) 2.2 ohm 1watt . The resistors are all 1 watt metal film resistors. You can get replacement ICs and resistors at the following link with free instalation instructions with pictures, plus free tech support.

Blue won't line up at the top in digital array


you need to replace both convergence ICs and the six 1 watt feed resistors. The ICs are both STK392-110 and the resistors you need one of each RK42 3.3 ohm 1watt, RK46 1.8 ohm 1watt, RK50 2.7 ohm 1watt, RK54 1.5 ohm 1watt, RK58 3.9 ohm 1watt and RK62 2.2 ohm 1 watt.

When A REAR PROJECTION TV has coloured outlines or a 3D image the Convergence Circuits most likely need attention.

Replacing the output amplifiers (located within the Convergence IC's) allows the pictures to line up correctly, and no more color outlines.

This is the most common fault in all makes of rear projection TVs.

Some models of TV require major disassembly and considerable shop/manufacturer's support to repair because of their design that causes other power supply or vertical deflection problems. The poorly designed products require a "bench" repair that can typically cost from $350 t0 $700.

Some TVs are designed for on-site repair and have more reliable circuit design that does not usually cause damage to other parts of the TV when convergence chips fail. The ones that usually allow reliable on-site repair are JVC, Samsung and Hitachi.

It is normal to have some resistors in the circuit burn up or increase in value from the heat (from 2.2 ohms to 5 or 10 ohms). These resistors must be replaced with the right value or the chip may fail again.

This is not a simple repair like changing batteries or a fuse. Reading through the other posts shows many that try and end up with bigger problems.

Your JVC uses STK 392-110 IC's. Misinformed people replace the IC's with other "new and improved" IC's, like STK 392-150. These are devices with different characteristics and require different value resistors in the circuit. Replacing with the STK 392-150 will cause overheating of the resistors and a damaged IC.

Colour alignment off


Need to replace the convergence IC in the green vertical circuit. Check the 3.9 ohm resistors located in front of the IC.
