SOURCE: volume level dropping unexpectadly

The A1 has an internal self diagnostic program which you can go through to find the fault. You can access the diagnostic program by simultaneously pushing some buttons on the front panel. The Yamaha service manual for the A1 tells how to do it and what the diagnostic codes mean. You can get a copy of the service manual on the web from several suppliers for a small fee.

I have a 55" Westinghouse flat screen t.v. LCD first got it the sound worked but when we hooked our soundbar and sub woofer still no sound from tv only soundbar what do we do next? Please answer

This is correct. When you connect a sound bar or a home theatre system, the cheap inferior speakers in the television are muted so you can hear the wonderful quality of your new audio. They are made to do that, but sometimes, you will find a settings in Menu - Audio that will over-ride this.

Why does the soundbar play with Roku but no sound comes from the bar when on regular t.v.

You have to go into the audio set up screen on the TV and direct TV sound to the output cable connector you used for the sound bar. Example: Optical, digital.

Audio seems weak...how to increase volume

this is gotta be the largest complaint I hear from folks when they get a new flat screen , its not loud enough or the sound sounds muffled

flat screens are flat ! so theres no good way for mfg to put the speakers facing forward so sound has to hit the wall behind it first then gets directed forward to you ! (low/muffled)

sound bars help with this , but for true rich sound , id go with a video receiver amp combo , some of these even have built in dvd players , and arrange its speakers in a forward facing direction

Yamaha soundbar

Remove the batteries from the remote. Push all the buttons to eliminate a stuck button as a cause. Reinstall the batteries or install new batteries. Disconnect and reconnect the soundbar. Check operation. If the problem remains, you may need to replace the remote

Hello dan5260,

Your audio processor might be going bad or at least one of the capacitors might had malfunctioned.
We are actually not talking about much expense in fixing this problem. At my shop here how the pricing would go:

Parts: $20.00-$30.00
Labor: $60.00 per hour (1 hour limit) Total $120.00
Starter Fee: $30.00

So total will be about $170.00 - $180.00

This is just an estimate based on my shop, your local shop might charge more or less.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

Diferent sound

The entire difference may be due to the vehicle.

He could check things like the B+ reaching the amps when driven hard. It should remain well above 12v. If it's dropping below 12v, that could be part of the problem.

He also needs to check to make sure that all woofers are in phase. If he has one woofer connected improperly, it would only be approximately as loud as one woofer because one would be cancelling another out.
