Pride Celebrity x. Batteries drain quickly despite new full charged batteries. When scooter is pushed in freewheel- brakes engage every few feet. Have to turn scooter on/off to get brakes to release.

hi Diane, the brake engaging is by design, distance is the key here

Have you tried another charger ?

1. when pushing the scooter in freewheel before the brake engages , is it easy to push ? what can happen is the brake does not release 100%, a easy test is to run the scooter then put your hand on the brake unit , is it hot ? be careful because it could be very hot , this will prove the brake is not releasing fully.

The error lite on Buzzaround Lite scooter flashing

5 flash code is the electro magnetic Brake. This is referring to the brake on the motor that can be released by the freewheel lever.

1. place the freewheel lever into the free wheel position. Ensure the scooter is in free wheel and move the scooter forwards and backwards a few times.

2. Place the freewheel lever in drive position, push on scooter to ensure it is in drive and does not move. Turn on key and press the throttle. If you have the same code again, call a technician to check the brake, chances are it needs replaced.

My rear hub on my blackcomb/mongoose just slips when I try to start riding, how do I fix this?

I am not familiar with this model, but you will either have a coaster type brake hub (pedal backwards to apply brakes) or you will have a freewheel type of hub that allows you to rotate the cranks backward without engaging anything.

If you have a coaster brake type hub then you will need to rebuild the hub, which is too complicated to explain in this post. Take it to your local bike shop (LBS) and buy a new wheel for about $25 - $50.

If you have a freewheel hub, then what is happening is the pawls inside the freewheel or the cassette are not engaging. They are activated by small springs within the freewheel or cassette. The springs could be broken, the pawls could be broken or a likely scenario is that the grease inside has become sticky or the pawls are rusty. You can try flushing it out with some Liquid Wrench or WD40 oil, by squirting the lube in the side of the freewheel/cassette (squirting it on the teeth of the cogs will do nothing). Look at the side of the hub around the axle, if you rotate the freewheel backwards you will see where it rotates around a stationary part and this is where you can squirt the oil in. It will take a few shots of oil and rotating the freewheel at the same time to work the oil into the pawls and springs. You can disassemble the freewheel/cassette but this requires specialized tools that most consumer don't have but they can be purchased at you LBS.

Alternatively, buy a new freewheel/cassette hub and you are in business. It requires a special tool to remove so once again, go to your LBS and they can remove it in a just a few seconds and install a new one just as quick and probably only charge you a nominal amount to do it ($10-20, which is the cost of the tool, but how often do you need to remove your freewheel, right?). A BMX freewheel is as cheap as $15 and up and a cassette varies from $10-50 depending on brand and quality.

Good luck, P.S. if you go the "oil flush" route, it will destroy the grease inside and you will have to squirt a little oil in there on a frequent basis to keep things running smooth.

Alarm sound all the time when switch on

Hi, that normally happens when the scooter is in freewheel mode, now double check the lever located at the rear, okay having done that , disconnect the axle from the main frame, check the connection here are clean and touching , if it's a plug remove the plug stray in some contact cleaner , refit making your it 's a tight fit,

Still got the problem then check the micro switch located near the freewheel lever , normally located on the brake mech , make sure it connecting when the freewheel lever is moved.

Hi Fred,

Good job on replacing the batteries!
With the go go scooter, a beep code of 5 indicates a solenoid brake trip. This means that the brake manual/freewheel lever may be in the freewheel position. This means that you can push the scooter. Remove the key and push the freewheel lever to the drive position. Restart the scooter and the code should be cleared and the scooter will run. Hope this helps.

I have a Golden Companion II, all power comes on:light, battery meter and horn but it won't move when I press the throttle. I do hear the click from the brake but it won't move forward or reverse. If its...

Tony Check the freewheel lever Make sure that the scooter can't be pushed easily. If you can push it then its in freewheel. Now Tony you could have a problem with the brake itself. There is a small micro switch on the brake that engages and disengages when you move the freewheel lever. If you can get a close look at it make sure that it still looks like its operating its a mechanical mech activated by the lever on the brake. If it looks ok and you can get the scooter in or out of freewheeling (the rear wheels lock and unlock) then it could be a throttle pot problem or a speed control pot problem. Fortunately you can't bypass the throttle or speed pot. You will have to get these checked by a tech either with your provider or a service company that has techs around your area. I'm sorry I couldn't give you a quick fix but scooters are more difficult to troubleshoot because of all the different componets necessary to make it go. Good Luck Hope this helps

Led Flashes 5 times - Brake in freewheel or brake connection problem. How can I fix this?

Pull the key out of the plug or key switch. There is a freewheel/brake release lever sticking out of the top or back of your scooter on the driver's right hand side. Push this handle the opposite way it is now and try the scooter. If this does not work, repeat the steps above. It is important to do this with the key out of the unit or it will not reset.

LED Flashes 5 times - Brake in freewheel or brake connection problem. How can I fix this?

Brake in freewheel means that your scooter is not fully in gear, it must be 'set in the engaged (Fully forward) position.' See page 24 of the manual for your model, (Link below to the pdf if you need it) but if its anything like mine it just didn't click in properly. Roll it back and forward a few inches, and it should 'click' like the seat in the car when you change its position. If freewheel is not the problem (if it can't be rolled and is definately in gear) check all plugs and cords are tight in sockets, you may have a brakes problem. In this event it must be looked at by an expert. Stay safe!
Hope this helps:)
