E440 emachines bios key

I cannot boot up my laptop. I get a black screen. I can hear the fan humming, but I do not see the e-machine logo and it does not go into Windows 7. I'm not sure if this is because of a virus or my hard drive is not working. If I put a Windows recovery disk in the DVD drive, I can hear some action but I cannot see anything happening. I'm not sure if the boot order is hard drive or DVD first so I try to go to setup but pressing F2, F12 and Del does nothing. Actually I cannot even see the e-machine logo page. Any suggestions. Thank you.

SOURCE: Replace hard drive on Compaq presario 2190US

I have a 2190 with the exact same problem. I have now found that it is the hard drive. The hard drive should spin with random clicking, not that clock-like clicking. The hard drive is located in the front edge of the unit looking like a drive door. Remove the two rubber plugs and two screws. Pull the "drawer" sharply to toward you to unplug the drive. Then try to boot the computer without the hard drive installed. The computer will now let you enter the bios, etc. Weird, huh?

SOURCE: Can't start windows: Hard Drive - No drive detected

The laptop cannot see/detect the hard drive. This means the hard drive is faulty or it needs reaeating.
Remove the hard drive and inserting again, then reboot the laptop, if it still cannot detect the hard drive then it is faulty.
You need to purchase a new one and install Windows on the new hard drive.

How do i change boot order on emachine t3604

You will need to change the boot order in the bios set-up.
Turn your computer off, and turn it n again (alternatively Restart it) These things may be initiated by clicking the Windows button at the bottom left of tour screen, and from the shut down drop down menu selecting the appropriate option) As your computer is starting up, and the Emachines logo appears on the screen
"Press the "Tab" key repetitatively: If that fails to take you into the BIOSsetup, repeat and try either the "Escape," "Delete," or "F2" keys instead of the Tab key.
Once in the BIOS setu[p, Look through the options until see Boot order, and then change that to CD first, HD 2nd. Exit the BIOS setup with save changes option. Done.

Laptop hp cq62 not start, black screen. after pluging ac cord he start itself, and after that, it is impossible turn it of.

You can generally only flash a bios if you can get the machine to boot up into some operating system. Do you get ANY on-screen logos or messages when you apply power to the laptop? Can you get into the bios when you power up the laptop and press Esc (or F2 depending on your model)? Do you hear any sequence of 'beeps' when you power up the laptop? A series of short/long beeps when powering up indicates some kind of error detected by the Power On Self Test (POST) routine. Do you have the HP recovery CD for your laptop? Have you put it in your CD Rom drive and tried to boot up? Check the manual at HP Support for a hard reset procedure- you could have a bad power button board or other hardware problem-it is not usually a BIOS problem.

Default boot order for emachine laptop 732

Step 1:
All computer systems go through a set of instructions called the Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) when they are turned on. The BIOS checks all of the hardware and software installed on the computer to make sure they are working properly before loading the operating system. You may need to access the BIOS menu periodically to find out the current version of the BIOS you have if there are upgrades available. The command you use to access the BIOS settings on an Emachines computer will vary depending on the specific model you have.

Access the Start menu and click "Shut Down." Select the "Restart" option. Wait for the Emachines logo to appear on the screen as the computer begins booting up again. Press the "Tab" key when the logo appears and see if the computer switches to the BIOS menu. Press the "Escape," "Delete," or "F2" keys if the "Tab" key doesn't take you to the BIOS menu screen. Use the right arrow key to highlight the "Main" entry and press Enter. Scroll down to the heading labeled "BIOS version." Check the long string of numbers and letters under the "BIOS version" heading to locate the current BIOS version your Emachines is using. Press the "F10" key to exit the BIOS menu screen and finish booting up the computer's operating system.

EMachines eMD620 suddenly shutdown and not boot anymore

When this happened was the laptop overly hot? If the laptop's head got too high it could have shutdown to protect itself. It wouldn't boot until the heat had disparate. Sit you laptop aside for about 30 minutes and see if it will boot then. If it does you might want to check out a cool mat.

Hi,

Some of the emachines coming with Recovery image. You need to press F11 key on starting to check whether the image is available or not. If it is there proceed with restore.

Otherwise you need a recovery CD to do this. If you don't have any CD then you could purchase the recovery disk for your emachines from the link below by entering the serial number on your computer:

Acess bios setup

To access the bios setup: when the machine first boots up, you'll hear a beep, once you hear that beep, i believe you need to hit F12, or Del keys repeatedly until Bios comes up. Sometimes, on the Logo screen it will say what to hit to enter bios setup, look in the corners of the logo screen.

Thanks Mark

How can I prevent my E Machines logo from loading everytime I start my computer. I have Windows XP.

Press and hold the F2, F12, or F8 function key (one of the three at a time) after jhearing a single beep following a restart. One key (usually F2) will allow you to change the BIOS settings. (If the computer boots normally, restart it again and try the next function key.)

BE CAREFUL. Don't change anything you are not sure of because doing so can make your computer inoperable!

You will eventually get to the BIOS settup utility. You will have to use the keyboard to navigate to the setting that disables the splash screen. (You may have to enable something like "detailed boot report" or "OEM settings", depending on the computer.)

My American Megatrends (AMI) BIOS has a "BOOT" section that contains a "Full Screen Logo" setting. I "Disabled" it to do what you want to.

Incidentally, the splash screen doesn't really slow the boot process much, since you are simply substituting a static picture for the BIOS boot information.
