Open the case on your radio. Solder a 100 ohm resistor between the pa jack and ext speaker jack. You can add a switch if you like to turn it on and off. The lower the resistance, the louder the talkback.

if it blows the power fuse even with the power switch on the radio off andif it has been inadvertently connected reverse polarity as in the red and black wires were hooked up in reverse,there is a polarity protection diode on the board where the power wires enter the unit,and it shorts out to protect the unit it looks like a standard diode with a white band on one end and will show a short in both directions if defective and high resistance in one direction and low resistance in the other direction if good,if it blows the fuse when switched on,then it can be a leaky or shorted audio I.C. mounted vertically on the side of the radio case,usually has 8 or 10 pins in a row soldered to the circuit board or possibly the R.F. preamp or final output transistor on the inside rear panel of the radio next to the coax antenna connector
