I have the same problem and the chain is the one that came with the saw brand new. If I cannot figure this out soon this saw is destined for the scrap heap.

Make sure you have the correct chain. There are different chains for different clutches.

Chain keeps poppin off

These are the instructions for adjusting the chain. They are taken directly from the manual available at http://ep.yimg.com/ty/cdn/razorama/e100e200e300manual.pdf

To adjust the chain:
1. Loosen the axle
2. Loosen the brake anchor (this is attached with the small bolt in the long slot on the left side of the rear fork)
3. Tighten the tension adjusters on the axle 1/8 to 1/4 turn to tension the chain. Tighten both adjusters the exact same amount to maintain the wheel alignment.
Note: this system of adjusters is common to motorcycles and BMX
bicycles so I your are not familiar with it, if you know anyone who is,
they would not have a problem adjusting it for you.
Chain tension: The chain should be "just not-quite snug" in other
words, not taut or sloppy loose. BE CAREFUL NOT TO ADJUST TOO TIGHT. The tensioning system can easily impart too much tension and snap the chain or bend the motor output shaft. Turn the adjusters 1/8 to 1/4 turn at a time and recheck the tension each time.
4. Once the tension is good, tighten the axle and brake anchor bolt. Test run the scooter. Readjust as needed.

Ratcheting noise on startup

Yes the tensioner is what keeps pressure on the chain or belt to keep it tight. If the chain or belt gets too much slack it could jump a tooth or two or worse it could come off while you are driving, causing severe engine damage.

The blade keeps slipping off after a couple of minutes of use, the tension is as required. Why does it keep coming off?

Hi luvmylife63.
If you have the proper tension on the chain against the bar and the chain is coming loose right away then you need to replace your chain and/or the bar for your chainsaw.

The chain keeps coming off of my daughters MX500. Is there a way to tighten the chain or the chain tensioner. Is there something else that could be causing it to come off?

The chain usually comes off because it is not tight enough or the chain is not aligned correctly with the sprockets. Check the chain tensioner to see if it is keeping the chain tight and not moving even though it is tight, if it loosens, replace the tensioner. Check the chain for any broken or worn spots or links, if any are found replace the chain.

Chain comes off mcculloch electramac em250 chain saw

Your chain is too loose or it is worn out. Adjust the tension on the chain. The chain should not hang away from the bar but should be loose enough that you can pull it away from the bar with not much effort. Adjust the tension until it is set correctly.

Chain keeps coming off Poulan 2150 woodsman gas chainsaw> Common causes?

The most likely cause is a loose chain.
Chain Adjustment
  1. Make sure the chain brake is off (gloves will protest your fingers).
  2. If necessary, loosen the bar nuts that are clamping the clutch cover in place (or whatever holds the clutch cover and bar on). They do not need these really loose - finger tight will do.
  3. Ease the tension adjustment until the chain is obviously loose.
  4. Using one hand, hold the nose of the bar up.
  5. While holding the nose up, adjust the tensioner so that the center of the chain just touches the underside of the bar, add a touch more.
  6. Continue holding the nose of the bar up & tighten up the bar nuts / bolts / quick-release system.

My 1990 nissan sentra has a noisy timing chain when running idle.

Your timing chain tensioner is using oil pressure to stay tight.Could be your oil pressure is so low at idle the tensioner just can't stay tight. At the next oil change you could go for a thicker oil and see if the tensioner keeps the chain tighter at idle.

Trying to put timing chain back after replacing head gasket on a Nissan N22 motor. Need to find adjustment to loosen timing chain so that i can attach timing gear with chain onto OH cam. can you help on...

no adjustment neccesary. There is a timing chain tensioner, which you will simply push back in to its body. once you do that, there should be a small hple somewhere on the body of the tensioner. That' sthere so you can piut a paper clip into it to keep the tensioner from coming out. Once you lock that in place you can remove the tensioner and than the timing chain.Once you get it all back together, just pull back on the pin and the tensioner will come out and put tension on the chain. good luck.
