You have put the "chalk thing" back in incorrectly, it only fits one way, use a torch and look in the hole and line the missing corner on the "chalk thing" up with the blocker.

Hinge pin came out from head of mixer and can't put it back..will only go through part way.

did you turn your mixer over and unscrew the set screw on the hinge shaft before trying to put back in? there is a small set screw that holds the hinge pin in place during normal operation. the screw sometimes comes loose and the shaft will vibrate out of it's normal operating position but when you try to push it back in the screw now stops the hinge shaft from going in, You have to turn the mixer upside down and look into the base cavity and you will see the set screw in the middle. Loosen first, return hinge shaft to normal operating position and the re tighten the setscrews, you can be firm with this screw, let us know if this helped

The tilt release on my 2350 model will not release no matter what I do. Am I just over looking something?

A screw has come loose and is jammed. You need to take bottom cover off and loosen bolts in neck (2). This will seperate neck from motor head and you will find loose screw jammed in tilt section.

Get a copy of the Repair Part List for your model at
Download the following Kitchenaid Service Manual:

It covers several models including yours.
1. Check/Adjust the Flat Beater to Bowl Clearance:

Turn screw (A) SLIGHTLY counter clockwise (left) to raise the flat

beater or clockwise (right) to lower the flat beater
2. Check the Beater Shaft (Agitator Shaft) making sure the Retaining ring
is flushed with the surface of the Planetary Assembly
Constant Pulling and Removal of the beaters can cause the Agitator shaft to move
3. If the above two still don't solve your problem, follow the service manual
directions to disassemble the Planetary Assembly and check for loose screws

1990 Jeep Cherokee 4.0l 6cly fuel inj.... recently my steering column has play into up/down and right to left. Steers fine, except it's loose. Key sometimes won't come out and the fuse on the instrument...

Hi, I know the problem well. Had 2 different columns apart recently. What happens is the star bolts holding the lower bearing assembly get loose. You have to take everything off to get to them. First the airbag, if you have one. You have to disarm it first by taking both cables off the battery and touching them together. With the airbag off, take the bolt off the steering wheel and use a puller to get the wheel off. Then the dust cover. With the cover off, you need a lockplate compression tool to push the lockplate down while you remove the locking clip. The lockplate comes off, then the the turn switch canceler, then the turn switch. You have to take the wand and hazard button off to get the switch out. There are then 3 screws holding the upper bearing housing on. First remove the key barrel set screw and remove the barrel. Then remove the 3 screws. Next, you have to pull the ignition switch linkage off the gear opposite the key barrel. The linkage looks like a big key. The housing then comes off and hangs on the turn switch. Make sure you catch the bearings if they are loose. At this point, if you don't have a tilt column, you may be able to see and tighten the star bolts. If you have the tilt column, you will have to take it off. There are pins in each side. An 8/32 screw can be screwed in and pried to pull the pins out. Take the adjusting rod off and the tilt mechanism will come off. The return spring and retainer will also be loose. Now you can tighten the bolts and put everything back together. Now, you're going to want to see some pics to help you. Fortunately, there are a lot of these out there. Here is one, but there are many more: . You will want to find one that's like yours--tilt if you have tilt or non-tilt if you don't. Please let me know if you have questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

The head will not realease

I had this happen while I was finishing my Christmas cookies. (note: unplug the mixer!) After reading some other posts, I undid the screws on the back of the mixer and removed the plastic parts to look at the inside. The nut on the bolt that connects the stand to the mixer body was really loose. I used a set of needle nose pliers to tighten the nut to the locking washer. Once I did that the button to release the body worked just fine! I put the reassembled the back parts and plugged it in to make sure it worked. There were 8 screws I had to take out before I could remove the knob assembly and get to that bolt and nut. Hope this helps!
