I keep losing sound on my Acer Aspire 5920

I keep losing sound on my Acer Aspire 5920 notebook. One minute sound and at the next logon no sound - all drivers upto date, all devices working normally. It shows music is playing and no sound coming out. All Acer have suggested is to restore all factory defaults which I don't want to do as I will lose all my data.

Any ideas?

it seems your audio hardware is having problem, send it for servicing
