P0340 code

DTC P0340: Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor Circuit
P0340 ?€¢
The ECM detects that the starter is commanded on and the engine has been cranking for more than 4 seconds without a CMP sensor pulse.

OR

?€¢
The ECM detects that the engine has started, but did not received a CMP sensor pulse during the first engine revolution.

OR

?€¢
The ECM detects that the engine is running, but does not receive a CMP sensor pulse for 800 of 1,000 engine cycles.

The 4X camshaft position (CMP) sensor circuits consist of an engine control module (ECM) supplied 5-volt reference circuit, low reference circuit, and an output signal circuit. The CMP sensor is an internally magnetic biased digital output integrated circuit sensing device. The sensor detects magnetic flux changes of the teeth and slots of a 4-tooth reluctor wheel attached to the camshaft. As each reluctor wheel tooth rotates past the CMP sensor, the resulting change in the magnetic field is used by the sensor electronics to produce a digital output pulse. The sensor returns a digital ON/OFF DC voltage pulse of varying frequency, with 4 varying width output pulses per camshaft revolution that represent an image of the camshaft reluctor wheel. The frequency of the CMP sensor output depends on the velocity of the camshaft. The ECM decodes the narrow and wide tooth pattern to identify camshaft position. This information is then used to determine the optimum ignition and injection points of the engine. The ECM also uses CMP sensor output information to determine the camshaft relative position to the crankshaft, to control camshaft phasing, and for limp-home operation.

Why is there no pulse at injectors on a 05 mondeo tdci

No pulse? Is the engine running? How are you measureing pulse? If the engine is running there is a pulse, if it's not running, there won't be a pulse. If TDCI is correct this is a turbodiesel
Compression Ignition.

P0372 code

Possible causes

- Timing Reference Optical Sensor harness is open or shorted

- Timing Reference Optical Sensor circuit poor electrical connection

- Faulty Timing Reference Optical Sensor

- Damaged Powertrain Control Module (PCM)

What does this mean?

When is the code detected?

Some high resolution pulses are missing from the optical sensor to the PCM

Possible symptoms

- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)

P0372 Description

The optical sensor provides a high resolution signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) by counting pulses on the sensor disk located in the injection pump. The high resolution is one of the most important inputs by the PCM for fuel control and timing. This test monitors the number of high resolution pulses which have been missed (not detected). It's based on a comparison between the number of pulses that were detected since the last pump cam pulse and the number of the pulses that should have occurred. There are approximately 64 high resolution pulses for every cam pulse.

Pulse generator

Take off exhaust, left bracket, side cover, then you see 2 pulse gen. around main gear, take the gear off, anscrew pulse generators.

I just do not know, why do you want to change them, usually they do not die, post a story, why do you think, they are bad.

No injector pulse

what vehicle? injector pulse controlled by computer. the computer recieves a pulse from crank angle sensor, or distributor pick up, etc.
then controls injector pulse. Mass air flow on some vehicles determines spray pattern

I Have A 2000 Hyundai Accent And The Codes P1529 and P0722 Came Up. What Does This Mean. Please Help Me Out.

P1529 - MIL light request

P0722 - Transmission Pulse Generator B. The Pulse Generator detects the revolution of the idler gear parking pawl lock gear and emits a pulse signal. The pulse signal is sent to the Transmission Control Module (TCM) which converts it into vehicle speed. The code is detected when the Pulse Generator B failed to provide a signal to the TCM upon initial movement of vehicle.

Symptoms:
- Engine Light On (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Speedometer improper reading
- Possible shifting problems

Possible Causes:
- Pulse Generator B harness or connectors
- Pulse Generator B circuit is open or shorted

1995 buick lesabre custom. has a new fuel

even if you have preasure in the line that does not mean you have fuel going into the engine. you should check the injectors to see if they are spraying and if not you need to check the injector pulse to find out if the PCM is sending the signal to them to spray. to check injector pulse you will need a noide light to test the pulse it the light lights up you have pulse, but easy way to check is pull an injector and turn the engine over see if it sprays.

Isuzu trooper starts briefly then dies

check your fuel delivery from the pump to the "dry" pulsing injectors leave the crank sensor alone! open the intake and, spray either (engine start) into the engine then attempt to start; it should start and, run until the either is used up then die. most likely your fuel filters are clogged

Not certain but I think your truck has no points (breakers) but a pulse transformer and a magnetic wheel to induce a pulse.

I suspect the pulse pickup has died.

If you have a multi (or ohm) meter, check the output leads for continuity.
If only one lead exits the distributor, then one side is grounded internally and you should measure between that lead and a clean ground; if two, then measure across them.

Typically, you will find somewhere between ~2,000 and 10,000 ohms.
It shouldn't be shorted or open (infinite).

It can also be easily checked on just about any engine analyzer as the purpose of the pickup is to produce a small pulse at the right point in time.
