Question about Tascam US-122 Sound Card

1 Answer

Vista doesn't see my US-122 as a sound card

I know, Vista doesn't support the US-122, but I got it to work, and any time I'm in Audition 2.0 all inputs and outputs work fine and dandy. However...the rest of the computer can't see the 122, it only lists my Sigmatel High Def Audio Codec card. However (again with the however)...it DOES list the US-122 and US-122 WDM interface in device manager, and shows them working properly. So it's there and working, it's just that Vista won't see it as a soundcard. The result...I have to constantly switch my headphones back and forth depending on if I'm in the computer or Audition environment. Any workaround ideas?

    Well Tascam has no intentions of every making it compatible with Vista, so there won't be one forthcoming from them.

    I have looked around some for 3rd party patches but haven't been able to turn one up yet.

    I found the same thing and that's what I did to originially get the US-122 working as good as I have. I'm cool as long as I'm in Adobe Audition, and the device manager sees it. But even after the above, Vista doesn't "see" it.

    I'm with you, there's got to be a driver for a different device that will work with the US-122.

Have you tried looking for a vista driver/patch for the US-122?

    OK, I will say it is difficult for me to trouble-shoot this problem as I don't have the US-122 or windows vista. I tried vista once and had way too many problems (even more problems than I had in windows 95), however a quick google on the problem shows running the driver install in compatibility mode works for some people, and for others it doesn't work. I found this list of steps at another site :

    Apparently, there is a hack solution you can do to get Vista to recognize the Tascam:
    "Getting US-122 to work with VISTA (32-bit only)
    Before plugging in the US-122?
    Download driver install.exe to desktop
    Right click/Properties/Compatibility.
    Check box and select Windows XP SP2. Apply. OK.
    Right click again.
    Run as administrator, install anyway.
    When installed, plug in the US-122.
    Vista will install 3 drivers.
    Don't forget to go to US-122 in control panel and set to lowest latency."
    Thanks Mike fro the solution.

    I'm under the opinion that considering the US-122 and US-122 WDM interface shows in the device manager, that there must be some sort of work around to get this thing working whether its running xp drivers in compatibly mode or running another driver thats compatible with the US-122, there simply must be a way to trick vista into running this device properly.

    Try the steps listed above and see if they work for you, if not we can keep trouble shooting this thing.

What's your problem? get tascam us 122 working on windows 7

Hello you can try the vista driver from here:

http://tascam.com/product/us-122/downloads/

It will maybe not run in 64 bit.

Try to install the software in compatibility mode.

Here is a youtube video that shows how you do that:

I have Us-122 card and i can not install the drivers to my new laptop becouse there i have windows7. and every time i try a message says that i can not intsall the drivers in this windows session.

The Vista drivers work just fine for me on windows 7. To install them however, I had to run the installer in compatibility mode (the installer complains and quits if you don't).
For clarity, here are the exact steps I followed:

- Download the latest Vista drivers from http://www.tascam.com/products/us-122;9,15,68,19.html;
- Extract the .exe file from the package;
- Right click on the extracted exe file, select properties;
- Go to the compatibility tab, select "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and in the dropdown box underneath select "Windows Vista (Service Pack 2)" (any Vista selection will probably work but this is the one that did it for me);
- Choose OK to save the settings
- Run the installer by double clicking on it and install as normal

You will have to unplug/shutdown the device before sleeping/shutting down windows or it may hang.

Hope this helps!

You need a 64 bit driver for your sound card so that you can install it in windows vista 64 bit operating platform. Visit the product website and obtain the 64 bit version of its driver for windows vista.

    1. What version of Windows?
    2. What hardware?
    My initial guess is distortion.  With some hardware, and at least on Vista, I had really bad pops/cracks with Audition 3 initially using a Creative Labs Audigy 2... sound card.  Then after getting an M-Audio Delta 1010LT, no more problems EVER.

    New computer having Us-122 problems PLEASE HELP.

    Make sure that you have XP SP 1 or SP 1a OR SP 2 installed on your computer. Also make sure that you go to device manager and look in the usb hub properties to find out if the US 122 is by it self as it needs 500 ma to operate. Also make sure that the latency setting of the US 122 is set right. Look in control panel for the US 122 icon, you should be able to set it from there.
