Mitsubishi WS-55819 power issue

My 5 year old Mitsubishi WS-55819 projection TV has a power problem. When I press the power button it turns on for about 2 seconds and then turns itself off. The picture doesn't come onto the screen as the power cuts off so quickly. I opened the back and there is a small black diode type thing (possibly a relay) on the middle PC board towards the back that clicks when it turns on and off. Someone suggested a leak from the 3 bulbs could be a cause but I cannot see any leaking substances anywhere. Does anyone have a suggestion to figure out what's wrong? I don't have electrical test equipment for troubleshooting. Thank you...

I had the 2-2 diagnostic blinks and it was found the IC's on the middle board behind the large heatsink were shot. Thank you for your assistance...

I have the 2-2 "short protect" problem with my WS-65909. The power light comes on for about 2 seconds then shuts off. I am comfortable replacing minor components (caps, diodes, fuses, etc), although I would probably seek help on replacing IC's. The real trouble I face is finding replacement parts. For instance, the one place online I can find that will sell small quantities of the F9A04 fuse, for instance, wants $28.00 each (YIKES!). Any suggestions on where to find replacement parts for these items? (I'm in the Dallas area, btw, if anyone knows a local distributor).

We've had this tv for 7 years and just unplugged for a few days and moved downstairs (carefully). When we turned on timer light blinks 3 times and when power button is pushed - stays on for 2 seconds and then shuts off. The past few months it had been a tiny bit sluggish in a picture appearing after it was turned on. I tried to do "diagnostic" and pressed menu and input for 5 seconds --- blinking pattern was -- blink, blink, pause blink, blink, pause (for a total of 10 times) still would not turn on

    Please help

can someone email the service manual to me jcjkmail@gmail.com, my problem is pretty much the same power issue, I turn the unit on it click off I changed the IC although there was nothing visually wrong with them same issue. I was told it is possible the power supply chip but I'm not sure which one it is so, if someone can point me in the right direction that would be appreciated..

I think it's possible the STR F6628 but I'm not sure. how do you check it with a volt meter? thanks for the help

This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source) 1. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF DIAGNOSIS ERROR 2 2. CHECK FOR LEAKY C9A60 470 PF 1000 V PART # 154P400030, PARALLEL TO D9A57 ON THE POWER PCB (NOT SHOWN IN THE SCHEMATIC). 2. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF DIAGNOSIS ERROR 2 2. CHECK FOR OPEN FUSES F9A04 AND F9A05 PART # 283P043090 ON THE +24 AND -24 VOLT LINES. IF THE FUSES ARE OPEN THE CONVERGENCE OUTPUT CIRCUIT WOULD BE SUSPECT. 3. SELF-DIAGNOSIS INDICATES SHORT PROTECT. CHECK FOR A SHORTED IC4B01 PART # 270P261020 (VERTICAL OUTPUT) LOADING 24-VOLT SUPPLY LINE. LOCATED ON THE MAIN PCB

I am a technician and I had a shutdown problem on a WS55819 it would try to come on and shut down right away and could not hear the static sound of high voltage being generated. After checking the circuitry found I had all normal dc voltages before shut down. I disconnected each one of the CRTS from the high voltage divider for the crt anode voltage. Found out after removing the green anode lead from the divider the tv came on, problem was the green tube, was pulling down the divder block output voltage wich should be 30,000 volts approx. Be careful when working in this circuit you can get shocked easily.

I have a Mitsubishi WS-55819, and it turns off approx. 2 seconds after turning on
The diagnosis light blinking idnicates 2-3 which is apparently Vertical Protect.
Any ideas of what my next steps shoudl be?
Should I just unplug and replug the HV leads?

SOURCE: mitsubishi ws-55819 power problem

Hello DaveDaveDave, Ok let's levelset as is said in the business world today. it looks like you have an overcurrent protection problem which means that the tv set has a component that is causing excessive current to be drawn. Now this can be caused by a component withc has become "leaky" (by leaky this means the inability to prevent the flow of electrons as related to dc voltage). Your last statement is the reason I am replying how I am. Since you don't have equipment your only option is to take this set to a TV repair shop and have it repaired. I have given you a possible cause a component in the HV section that may have gone bad, but without substantial data as to the voltage levels and signal appearances, one can only guess. I hope this helps and you find what you are looking for. Thank you, Shuttle83

My Mitsubishi Medallion tv stays on for about 10 minutes and then shuts down and won't turn back on until a period of time has passed. It is a rear projection tv about 9 years old. Can anyone help ex

When it shuts off and the green power light goes off, press both the menu and input buttons on the front of the set (not the remote) and hold both for about five seconds and release.

Power light will blink a two digit error code like 2 blinks and then 3 blinks and repeat it several times.

What is the error code?

WS-55819 TV, about 8 years old, stopped working. No picture, just black. When trying to turn on, power light appears for a couple seconds, then turns off. No other indications of life. My kids...

DO THE SELF CHECK YOUR SET HAS:

When you turn it on and power light goes off in a few seconds;

On the front of the set push and hold both the Menu and Input (Device) buttons for at least 5 seconds and release both.

Power light will then blink a two digit code, most common is 2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks--it will repeat the code at least 5 times.

Let me know what code you find and I will tell you what it means and maybe what is wrong with your tv.

I hope you find 2,2, as that is the most easy to fix.

If this helped you rate this solution as I do this here for free.

um . that model doesn't have a reset button . but if no lights on front of the set even blink when you press the power button on the front or on the remote .then suspect front panel buttons ,with that model.

No, that'll do it. Once you've changed em you'll know right away if somethin isn't right. But take faith and fire that puppy up. If the pix is good you did good. If something is amiss. I'd be happy to walk you through it. My money is on you though.

Mitsubishi WS-55819 HDTV won't power on

At the very least you are not getting any of the Standby power to the Microprocessor (5 vdc). I would concern myself with that area once you get the manual. In the mean time check all the fuses.

Code 22 indicates that your set is in shut down due to what is called Short Protect. The most likely cause is the Converge Ic's drawing too much current and opening one or 2 fuses. Normal repair cost varies by area and servicer. Expect 250 to 350 plus the service call. I normally do this on site.
