I have a Toshiba Satellite A105-S4384 Laptop Purchased in 2007.
I have an LCD from an HP Pavilion f1703 computer(couple of years old, not sure if the number refers to the LCD or the computer...) hooked up to that laptop.
For some reason, despite having the settings right, and being pretty damn sure the laptop is able to use dual monitors, the external LCD, when the computer boots up, comes on after being asleep, or I change the settings, only blinks on for a few seconds, during which I can see the screen and run my mouse across it, and then it blinks off again. The computer itself acts like the screen is still there, I can drag programs over there, etc, but the secondary LCD remains blank.
What do I do so I can use Dual Monitors with this laptop?

I've already done that. It's set up properly.(I've googled this problem to death, I am not a tech n00b, and I've fiddled with every setting on there, and it's working, it's just not staying on)
Windows is on the other desktop(box is checked, I've restarted multiple times), etc, and the other monitor is detected. It also works JUST FINE, but only for a few seconds at a time, when the laptop comes on from sleeping, turns on, or when I've changed the settings it blinks on, then off again. It never *stays* on, so that's obviously not going to fix it--I've gone it already.
Problem Identified. Apparently the monitor(a gift from my parents) is broken, and no one seemed to think it was important to let me know. I've decided to attempt to fix it myself, since HP is completly incompetent at fixing things.
