Kyocera EP470DN - Has Toner - Won't Print

My Kyocera EP470DN has a new toner cartridge; the waste toner box is empty; and, the printer only prints out a couple of very faint characters. There are no error codes. I tried increasing the print density from the factory default of 3 to 4, but it made no difference. Please help.

Ivan, thanks for the response. Actually, I did take out the toner cartridge and shook it very hard numerous times to verfiy there was toner inside, then before reinserting the cartridge, I shook it gently to level out the toner inside. I also checked the roller and it is evenly covered with toner. I also cleaned and wiped off any toner residue under the container that holds the toner cartridge; I checked the plastic toner waste container but it is clear of any toner; and, I cleaned and wiped off the sensor inside the waste compartment. I would like to stress that there are no error codes displayed on the LCD screen. In the past, when the toner waste container was full, I would get an error message. If the toner cartridge is near empty, I also was getting a warning mesage on the LCD screen. Now, again, there are no error messages. I'm stumped.

MHHH, it seems as if its empty but it might be that it has humidified. Take out the toner and shake it side ways without compassion, then you slow down and shake it gently a couple of times then install it at the drum. You can also verify if this is true if you take out the toner and watch the roller and see if its loaded with toner. If it looks shinny with almost no toner it what I just exposed. Luck

SOURCE: Kyocera Printer C5030N

Remove the developer and toner cartridge from the front of your unit. This will allow you to take out your drum where your waste toner box is. Once you have your drum with your waste toner box make sure to detach the waste toner box from the drum. Take a damp linen free cloth and wipe down the inside of the drum unit where your waste toner box goes in. Now take your waste toner box and make sure to secure the waste toner box really well to the drum. This has to be in very tight or else the printer will not think that there is a toner box attached the drum and this error will continue to appear. Important thing is to make sure that the toner box is attached really well to the drum unit.

SOURCE: My Kyocera FS1020D won't print. The light says i need new toner

Normal 0 Could have a corrupt driver.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

When I print a page black lines appear on the page making. Its like the toner is leaking or something. I don't know how to fix this issue. I've cleaned the inside of the printer several times and...

The toner is leaking. The toner cartridge has two compartments, one for new toner & another for waste toner. When the waste toner compartment is becoming full to its capacity it starts throwing extra toner outside of it. That is what is called toner leaking. If you can empty the contents of the waste toner compartment, your problem will be solved. One more thing if wiping blade for waste toner is worn out, it also leads to toner leaking.

Changed toner---back side now prints dirty with band on the top. Did the cleaning procedure - no luck

If you changed toner because old was empty and now you have this defect with the new cartrige, it is most likley a defective cartridge. Try the old cartridge again, if it prints clean, then you know for sure it is the cartridge. If you purchased a new HP cartridge, get it replaced by HP, they warranty their toners against defects. If you bought a 3rd party toner, return it to where you bought it and get them to replace it. If you had your old toner refilled by someone, get your money back, they don't know what they are doing. This type of defect is often caused by a filled waste toner bin then then runs back out when you print. Some refillers just throw toner in and don't empty the waste toner bin.

Display add tonner

When the toner cartridge is exhausted or empty then theprinter will not be able to print further documents or the prints will be veryfaint. You may be able to print a few more pages by removing thetoner cartridge and shaking the toner cartridge in a horizontal position a fewtimes and then placing it back into the printer. This will give you an opportunity to print a few more pages and giveyou time to purchase a new toner cartridge for your printer. A cheaperalternative is to purchase a re-manufactured toner cartridge for your modelprinter. A re-manufactured printer cartridge also replaces worn partsas well as refilling with toner powder.

When I go to print it starts beeping and telling me to check waste toner box?

The waste toner box is located on the right hand side of the printer. There is a door/cover that opens up on the right side. It is a milky white plastic container. Check to make sure it is there and installed properly and the door is fully closed. If all that is correct it my be full.

There should be a new waste toner container in the toner box (along with a toner). The toner and waste toner are normally replaced at the same time.

If you don't have a new waste toner container you can tray emptying the one that is in the printer BUT be very careful. The toner is a fine powder and can get all over if spilled. If you ever spill toner never use water or any other liquid to try and clean it, that will just turn it to a liquid ink.Brush it off your cloths and vacuum it up.

If you do try and empty the container and the machine continues to tell you it needs to be replaced it can be because there is still toner on the inside of the toner container and the sensor is seeing it there.

I hope this is helpful,
Shawn

Waste toner gets full before toner runs out

Actually, the waste toner should get full sometime before the regular toner runs out in laser printers that have several toner cartridges compared to the single waste toner reservoir.

You can dump the toner reservoir out and avoid buying the empty waste toner 'reservoir.'

I did this on my Brother Laser printer and saved about $30 or so for an empty plastic waste toner bottle or jar.

If this is the way the Kyocera-4020DN is, then I would put the waste toner, which is just that, waste, and put it into a plastic zip loc storage bag and throw it away. Don't breath the toner.

Good luck on this repair.

Check waste toner box

We have a Kyocera Mita FS-3820N and sometimes when the toner box message does not go away, even after emptying the box, we simply hit it a few times in the area of the box. Works every time!

Self test says 'check waste toner box'

It looks your waste toner box is full. Waste toner box collects toner drawn during printing. You have to remove waste toner bottle and empty it.

Follow the instructions to clean up toner bottle
