Mayday, mayday! All hands on deck!
What? All that wasn\'t necessary?..................Oh...........K
At any rate I need the laptop manufacturer name, and model number.
The model number can be found on the Bottom of the laptop.
One example, Acer Aspire 5535-5050
Aspire 5535-5050 will be found on the bottom.
With this information I can look to see if a Service Manual, is available on the internet, to post for you. (If available it will be free)
Also see if pictorial disassembly info is available. Can guide you step by step also, along with the above info.
If not I can see if I can guide you in disassembling, with the typed word on here.
Also perhaps post a couple of websites, that may have the Fan Assembly for sale; and this may help guide you with performing your own search.
You will also be guided in cleaning out the inside of the laptop, and replacing the Thermal Paste on the Processor.
(The hardware components inside a laptop are cooled by air.
The Processor, and the graphics chipset; are the two hardware components that give off the most heat.
In-between the cooling system, and the Processor; Thermal Paste is used. It is used to help transfer the heat from the Processor, to the cooling system.
Due to age, and overheating conditions, (Such as Fan Assembly quit), the Thermal Paste dries up.
Looses it\'s thermal conductivity properties.
Due to the fact you will be replacing part of the cooling system, (Fan Assembly), and will be right there in the area to replace the Thermal Paste, it is advantageous, and intelligent; to go ahead and replace the Thermal Paste.
Average cost is $6 to $8. Pretty cheap insurance.
Do I think you can perform this? I\'ve got over 10,000 solutions, and perhaps two people weren\'t satisfied. 8 years on the internet in this type of environment.
The answer is yes (Makes it even more so IMHO, after you ask a repair shop what they will charge!) Now let me show you a couple of pictorial examples,
http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba-Satellite-A665-A660/laptop-disassembly-1.htm
You can click on the photos to enlarge.
http://www.insidemylaptop.com/pull-apart-hp-pavilion-dv6-3000-series-laptop-guide-3/
There are laptops that do not have to be completely disassembled, in order to access the Fan Assembly, and rest of cooling system. (Cooling Tube and Heatsink)
Some of these models, have where the entire Base Enclosure (Bottom Cover), can be removed. Allowing easy access to the needed hardware components.
Some have where a large panel is removed from the bottom, and this grants easy access.
Whatever you do, I implore you to buy, and wear an ESD wrist strap, and have it\'s alligator clip attached to a good ground source.
Post back in a Comment, or Reply; at the end of this solution.
Regards,
joecoolvette

Ceiling fan won't run but the light does work. Fan has worked in the past but now just the light works. Why would the fan not work? This is a Hampton Bay Northport III ceiling fan ( product of Home Depot)

mcdevito75 here, You say fan worked in the past, That tells me the fan has not run in over 1 month if so, try this. First, the fan motor is a sealed unit, without running the fan in over 1 month it may be a little stiuck, put the fan lights on, and pull the fan chain just once and turn the fan blades themselves just a little to get thm started. also verify fan switch itself is good, Chain switch should have the familiar click click to it. If not the fan swich could be bad.

Fan works but light does not. bulbs are good.

mcdevito75 here, The lights should work from the wall light switch and the fan from the pull chain on the fan itself. The fan and the lights come off the same wall circuit so if the fan works, so should the lights, however in the fan assembly itself 1 wire was for the lights and 1 wire was for the fan. You'll have to pull the fuse to that fan, and remove the cover to the fans wireing at the ceiling., Now you can see the fans wireing, I'll bet the wire to the lights has fallen offf due to the vibration of the fan. Hook up the loose wire and the lights should work. If you can"t do the work, look for a handy man in your building / Area.

One of my fan is not working 1999 Honda Accord

Which fan is not working, A/C or Radiator? Check fuses, if good disconnect fan plug, direct wires from battery to fan to check fan, if fan does not work change. If fan works check water temp sensor for radiator. A/C fan only comes on when A/C is switch on. Like wise radiator fan only comes on when water reaches a certain temperature.

LIGHT AND FAN ARE NOT WORKING. HAMPTON BAY LIGHT IS NOT WORKING

Could be a loose wire up inside the fan. I would be very careful in its use. Might I suggest getting an electrician in to resolve this issue. You do not want to battle a fire over a fan light issue.
