Hi, You need to clean the engine thoroughly with some Purple Power or Fantastic and a garden hose. Then run the engine for a short time and locate exactly where the oil is coming from on the engine. One place to pay close attention to is directly under the cylinder where the crankcase mates with the oil sump. Some engines have gaskets fail directly under the cylinder because A; there are no bolts securing the oil sump to the crankcase in that location and B; it is an area of very high heat. I am assuming this is a push mower and does not have overhead valves? If it does have OHV, keep an eye around the bottom of the valve cover. Lastly, the crankcase breather cover gasket or the rubber tube the goes from the breather to the air filter housing may have come off or it may be cracked. But first things first, you must get the engine clean to determine where the oil is coming from. After establishing the location of the leak, post back with the info and I will provide direction to make the repair.Kevin,

I have a 99 Blazer that started leaking oil near rear of block. At that time plenty of oil pressure...I was driving to get it checked and noticed I had no oil pressure. Returned home with no problems.

The oil sneding unit is back there on top of the engine. Some times when they go bad they will leak oil threw the top/plug. This is the problem. It is about 3" long Sit in the middle of the engine all the way at the back.

I have a Husqavarna LT100 mower (15 years old) It started leaking oil from where the B & S engine is bolted to the frame. I've tightened up the 4 bolts but its still leaking. Any ideas...

Bear in mind that the bolts holding the motor to the frame do not have any oil passages near or through them. The oil is just oozing down the side of the motor and collecting there. If there is a little valve cover near the spark plug(s), the gaskets for these often get hard with age, leak and need replacing. This will be a small door about 2x3 inches with a bolt on the top and bottom, again near the spark plug(s). remove the bolts, take off the cover, clean the old gasket material off the cover and the engine block, put your new gasket on and snug the bolts back up. In the real world this would be a good time to have someone adjust the valve clearances too, given the age. You are not doing that yourself and when I replace that gasket I put some gasket goop on the new one before I put it in. I have a very handy neighbor who is subject to beer bribery and I have him adjust the valve clearances.

Leaking oil, collects on bottom of oil pan.

You have to check that the crankcase is not broken, if in perfect condition, check thebase of the distributor usually the leaks start there.
for checkups, take the engine to be washed after a walk of about thirty minutes back andcheck carefully.

Oil leaking from behind the motor

if the oil is leaking when the vehicle is running the rear main seal ,between the engine and transmision is leaking. if not maybe there is a oil pressure switch at the back of the engine leaking ,or the valve cover gasket is leaking near the back of the engine , have the engine steam cleaned then you will see where it is leaking ,

How to change oil on 90 nissan maxima

Park the car on a level surface, let the engine warm up, Locate the engine-oil pan under the car, and remove the drain-plug. Put a container under the oil-pan to collect the old oil. Remove the oil-filler cap on top of engine head-cover. Remove the oil-filter by the engine block. You could grab it with one hand and turn counter-clockwise. While waiting all oil to drain out, smear some new engine oil on the new oil-filter 'o'-ring, and screw it back in place. Tighten 3/4 turn after the o-ring hits the engine surface.
Clean the drain-plug with a clean rag and tighten back in place-not over-tighten it!. Put back about 3-quarts of new engine oil through the oil-filler cap, and hand tighten the cap. Start the engine and look for leaks. After a few hours later, check the oil level. You are done!

Engine oil get less every two weeks in my pajero 4m40

Diesels do lose a little oil out the blow-by tube. If the engine temp. is higher then normal then you will lose more then normal amounts. If you are not leaking it then you are burning it, Possibly worn rings, head-gasket, or oil leak inside turbo. 68 MPH and higher doesn't sound unusual, is the engine still stock?
